A lot of people are expecting a big market correction soon.
The price of coffins is going to double...
But seriously, I don't know if that's what Roger is referencing, but its what came to my mind.

God I hope not. Burying my mom was a small fortune. I've already told my wife save the money on a funeral. I want to be cremated and loaded into shotgun shells.

shite's about to hit the fan, market wise. Some states will suffer first then it's going to spread. Friend of mine who is a consultant to state government (Has offices here, Anchorage, Reno, DC and Sacramento) says it's going to be bad. Businesses who have money aren't spending.
Couple of bubbles are about to burst and things may change dramatically for some folks. I always kind of blew it off, but his beliefs were verified by a few others over the weekend. It's a few years off, but it's time to get financially sound.

Well shite. Looks like all those books I've been reading might actually come true. Does your friend have any advice?

I'm branching out. I'm a doc, wife has a pharmacy, I got a nursing home. So I asked what's left. Running the operation outta my garage now, but planning on branching out soon. Hope it don't turn out like some of those bad taxidermy pics.

Simplify. Don't spend like the party isn't going to end.
Seems like Alaska is going to get hit really hard, being virtually dependent on the energy sector. Pipeline built for 20 years is in it's 35th year and when it goes down, it's gone. Good thing, all the people who come here for the money will be gone and land prices will drop.

It's a modern day Cap'n Call and Gus going back to the orchard.

I know a guy with family in Lake Charles....grandma died in Harlingen, Texas- got a quote for the hearse, said "screw that" and put her in their fourwheeler trailer behind their Suburban.

Are we talking hyperinflation, $25/gal gasoline, failure of public sector type catastrophe?

Everyone says watch the ultrarich, but we never know what they're doing. I'm going to buy more precious metals if they dip again. Good to have as insurance. I don't think of them as investments necessarily. I also have several residences that are paid for and could be rental properties. The main thing is to make sure you and yours have food, water, shelter and security. I've got that locked down. I just hate to lose all the wealth I've saved. Thinking of just buying land and hard assets and f$%k everything else.

That would be a good idea if the economy goes south. Convert all your "wealth" into tangibles, either land or equipment.

My preferences:
1) Load my cremated remains in a BL&P naval gun round and fire my arse over the horizon at sea, just so the gunner's mates can cuss about having to clean the barrel for one damned funeral shot. I don't know if they'll still do this for deceased Gunner's Mates.
2) Drop my arse in a hole in the back yard of my place in New Mexico (great view).

I'm in the process of doing that with everything except my retirement accounts. I figure I'll be good either way. I may not make as much as if I gambled it all in stocks, but I won't lose it all either. I've about decided the stock market is fixed anyway. The only reason I'm in it is to take advantage of tax deferred savings otherwise I would put all my money into new businesses or expansion.

That'll be a good place to hide guns when they come for them cause it ain't to many folks wanna look in a casket
