Yay for him for rejecting plea offerings and it sounds like he did what any man would do. I don't really understand how this is web going to trial.

HT? Yes. He was one of the first friends of my wife I met when we started dating, he was married to her good friend. . His brother was married to my SIL. he was a very kind dude( huge guy also ) I could tell you some stories about him and his wife and mine and me together. We hung out all the time for a while. Broke my heart to see his kids after it had happened. Damn it screen is getting blurry now

EDA: my kids call his mom mamaw (insert her name) it still seems like just yesterday. I was offshore when I got the call and they flew me in.

The guy that shot him admitted to it and he's not behind bars right now

Really? I was wondering what was going in with that. I hadn't heard any updates since it happened.

Whats the chances that the fire chief or somebody else high up associated with the fire chief, made a couple phone calls to the DA's office to put pressure b/c the dead guy was "a good guy?"

“I hope he gets capital murder charges,” Moreau said of Jason Rolls.

That kind of bullshite mentality and podunk politics were reasons I didn't stay in LA.

...and what the frick is with that DA? He's abusing the system. Oh yeah, he's elected by the podunk populace.

Something's rotten in Denmark.

I could see the manslaughter charge in IL, or CT, or NY, but LA?

If a guy comes into YOUR house and attacks YOU, you have no way of knowing his intent (ie just to punch you a couple of times, or to kill you and your family).

In that scenario I shoot, every time. Until the threat stops.

It sounds like the DA was friends with the assailant and is pushing this for the wrong reasons.

I don't see how they can get a conviction and if they did then your buddy's attorney better appeal.

In this state I have no duty to retreat once in my own home.

As a ccw holder, in a public place, then yes I do have a duty to retreat. But not in my home.

Is Louisiana similar in that regard?

Again, I can't get past the fact that this happened in the victim's house and the assailant initiated the attack and now the state is trying to assert that the guy who was attacked is somehow to blame.

Not just wtf but WHAT THE F***!

yeah it sure sounds that way, why didn't the Air Force, senators or congressmen bring in some heavy hitters and get this taken care of?

I know someone who was in a similar situation and shot and killed his wife's ex. The ex busted down their rfront door in the middle of the night. But, there was a docu
mented history of harrassment. Steve was never charged with any crime. It happened in small town Mississippi.

That I don't know. But it hasn't garnered heavy media attention so that didn't help. I think it should have been front line news every night. It is a travesty

In LA you actually don't (Stand Your Ground). But I think morally if a CC'er can avoid a potentially deadly situation, that is the right thing to do.
