Had this exact same thing happen a few weeks ago. I was approved while wife was still picking out a gun. She gets delayed after she picked her gun. They wouldn't let either one of us take possession and said since we have the same address
They let my wife walk out the store with hers that same day and we have same address...Already took her to the range other day so she could get familiar with it...

With a CCP you don't have to wait at all, show your permit and walk out the door (after you complete the paperwork).

Only dipshit companies don’t transfer after the 3 business days. Never shop there again

Can’t be a lifetime and has to be issued after certain date. Again you can’t at academy. Unless that’s changes recently

not in alabama. before i moved out of state, the ATF put a stop to it. not sure they why they didn't do it nation wide instead of bama wide.

It has nothing to do with the ATF singling out Alabama. If your state's CCP background checks are at least as thorough as the NCIS check, a valid CCP is all you need and is considered to be your federal background check. If the background checks used for your state's requirements to hold a CCP aren't as stringent as the NCIS check, you still have to pass the NICS check.

This kinda makes me nervous...
It's a really crazy buying frenzy right now, and I've seen a couple articles saying the background checks are falling behind pace.
The 3 day window is in place, because if you DON'T pass, they should get to that within 3 days. Thus, if you don't hear back, most places let you get your gun.
All we need is "worst case scenario"... someone fills the paperwork out, 3 business days pass, he gets his gun, and eventually everything runs, and he is declined. You then get a shitstorm on multiple levels, he has to turn in his gun and may/may not get his money back (hell, might get charged with something), the place gets dinged, they protest saying they followed the rules... the rules then get changed "for the time being". No more 3-day wait for anyone, due to liability. And once it's gone, it will be hard to reinstate.

I can confirm this as well. Last time I was at Academy and thinking about getting a new pistol. Before I even started the process I asked the kid behind the counter what their policy was on CCP holders in regard to running a NICS check. He had no clue what I was taking about. I said thank you and left since I wasn’t about to get held up all day.
It sucks but they don’t have to not run the NICS if you have your CHP, it’s optional.

So's shopping at Academy.
Don't shop at Academy.

Exactly my point. I clearly stated that I walked away in my post.

Let's say one has already "purchased" the firearm at Academy online...what is the timeline you should hear back in?

What's your question?
you still have to go to the store and do a background check.
