Lots of good advice in here.
I have plenty of palms, none of which have died with freezes, but not sure of the species types. I do know that they drop a shitload of limbs, dates/berries, whispy pieces, bark pieces, etc. You need to be able to prune regularly. As they get taller, this becomes quite difficult/expensive.
Salt is the way to go. It doesn't corrode all metal but definitely destroyed my steel table/chair set.
Decent lounge chairs and a table set are a must. I also like having one of the towel hangers with the basket on top to keep the lounge chairs open and usable.
I think the "toy box" is helpful to store pool shite. Put a pole hanger on a fence nearby. Consider a fence around it if you have (or will have kids). I hate our fence but would surely put it in again.
I've been wanting one of those pool side beds for a while but haven't pulled the trigger.
ETA: I have the Polaris cleaner. Probably not as fancy as the dolphin, but you need something that is automated. Opt for the booster pump and a timer up front while it's easy to install.
I also have some teak in another area that hasn't held up well. It has pretty bad black streaking.

Just a word of advice from experience (the wife and I bought a house last year with a pool that had lots of nice landscaping around it, we've actually took about 90% of the landscaping out now
This describes everything we just had to do with our yard around the pool. pulled out 100% of the beds to re-work the drainage. Went with teak & sunbrella furniture off websites: Ballard, Frontgate, Wayfair. Wife was in charge of that--so triple what you thought your budget was gonna be

One more thing. If you're considering a diving board or slide, contact your insurance agent first to find out if your homeowner insurance company allows them. Quite a few homeowner insurance companies don't take houses with pool slides or diving boards due to the liability risk and could cancel your policy if they find out that you installed one or force you to take it down if you want to keep the policy.

Mine wanted an extra G for me to keep the diving board... it came off

No diving board or slide for me. Pool is only 5 feet deep so no way that's happening.

Don't do dark colored pavers or stamped concrete around pool!! Every foot print will be noticeable from dried salt.

Cool deck plaster on the decking works well

Pretty sure you have to be careful with saltwater on the travertine.

Similar to this with a small basket for glasses, wallets and such

Nice table and chairs with one of those off center umbrellas is nice and functional.
Couple of chaise lounge chairs.
Are you expecting to entertain guests there 1) often 2) many?
I looked at getting one of those cool looking outdoor bar setups but realized I'm not realistically going to be sitting behind a bar serving drinks while hanging out.
However some type of refrigerator nearby is very useful. We luckily have a short pass through to the garage so have one there.

I've had a metal table and chairs poolside for a year plus without any issues (saltwater pool).

one of these pool side is always nice so the ladies have somewhere to throw their bathing suits in.
Yeah but your guests aren't going to throw their suits altogether in some bin unless you're having an orgy or something.
I opted for one of those multi-bin cubby units in the pool room for guests to put their stuff in while they swim.
Looks kinda like this:

1. Buy a FAS pool testing kit
2. Dig into Troublefreepool.com and learn the basics of water chemistry, stay out of the pool stores
3. Take care of your pool using the BBB method

What do you guys do for an outdoor bar? Don't want anything fancy maybe something on wheels that has an ice chest built in? I have a patio but don't really have room for a full fridge. Could possibly fit a mini fridge but don't want a mini fridge just sitting on the patio floor.
