OK, but those don't tell you where you are.

Given that you're not going very far in a kayak, I find it's not very difficult to follow the map.

I really like how open this kayak is. This would be perfect for my needs

I know I don't. I was just wondering why other kayak marsh fishermen do.

As little time as I have spent in the marsh, I'd never go without one if fishing alone. Would hate to look up from Hell to see the stickied thread on the search for Alx.

My phone has offline maps

I have an app that had that. It took up too much storage space, I had to take it off the phone.

And I rarely find myself somewhere fishing (mostly freshwater) where I can't use my phone maps

There is basically no coverage at all at S. Toledo bend, Saline/Larto and places in Spring Bayou. Not that I need them, but still cool that my phone will do it. I use that feature more hunting.

I have a mossy oak scoutlook app, not sure if that one works when offline. Never tried it, didnt read the description when I downloaded it. Awesome for marking spots in the swamp and spots to park truck/boat to get to them.

I wouldn't have, but someone on here asked a few days ago if I would review it. So that's about as in depth as I know how to review it haha.

This bro should make a YouTube channel for fellow yakkers!

Hahaha. I don't know nearly enough about it.

Bapple, if we were to compare my knowledge of kayaks to your knowledge of guns, let's just say that your knowledge would be somewhere in the stratosphere and mine would be trying to dig itself out of a crawfish hole.

Unbiased?

What have you owned before? Just looking for context.

Owned? shitty ocean kayak.

Paddled for various amounts of time: Ascends, Jacksons, Ocean Kayaks, KCs, Natives, and a Mirage Hobie. All very nice except the KC. Didn't like it too much.

When I said unbiased, I just meant I don't have anything to gain for saying anything good about Native for no reason. I'm not the type to say something is awesome just because I've got it haha.

What didn't you like about the KC?

It was what I wanted for a while now but couldn't swing that, which is why I went with the ascend

Don't get me wrong. They're cool. The shape was just weird and it paddled pretty slow. I will say that it was the most stable kayak I've been on...but the shape just didn't feel like a kayak to me. It felt more like I was paddling a small version of one of those tunnel hull/catamaran pond hopping boats. It seems like a really well made yak though. Just not for me.

eta: someone on here probably has a KC that could give a way better opinion on it than me. I just used one for a couple days over a weekend at my buddy's camp in Shell Beach.

Kc is great in no wind

Great

In the wind it's tough to paddle

I just liked the idea of a pirogue I could stand up in and wouldn't sink if I flipped it, basically. Also no real limits on storage area (no hatches, etc).
I think I'll be happy with what I got though. Just need to get through the next week and a half first.
