I was thinking it was the drought that was hammering the field and lawn but after some investigations it appears to be the army worms as well.

Any combo chemical I can stay to take them and the ants out?

I’d suggest spraying a pyrethroid to kill & control…

I guess you didn’t spray Vantacor like I warned you. Hopefully you haven’t gotten rain and you can easily spray it.

How big are the army worms?

Edit: Sorry about that. It wasn’t you I warned about spraying Vantacor when the millet gets a couple inches tall. I think I started replying to you later in that same thread and I got confused. For future references. Just spray your millets early with Vantacor and you won’t have to worry about army worms the rest of the year. I have been your shoes before, but it was 60 acres of millet and after some rains. It was too muddy to spray with a tractor and had to pay a plane to do it. I learned the hard way that it is easier and less stressful to take a preventative measure. I have never had to spray Chiwapa millet for worms when it was planted in May, but I will if I have to plant it in June.

If anyone is ever worried about worms in fall food plots, Vantacor works in that situation also.

I wouldn’t use Vantacor by itself if you had an infestation and the worms were pretty big. It can kill by contact but it is really for killing them after they ingest it and it might take a couple days. If you have 5-6 day old worms, they could do serious damage before it worked. If you have 2-3 day old worms, they can’t eat enough before they die to seriously hurt you. Point being is I wouldn’t use Vantacor by itself in that situation (older worm infestations). I would use a pyrethroid for the immediate kill plus Vantacor to make sure you don’t have any future problems.

Lots of stuff will kill them.

I’ve used spinosad in the past and it kills them quick.

Probably have better luck long term with a granular rather than just a liquid product. Try Bifen LP, and remember to water your lawn after application. That will remain active for 2-3 months. To solve the problem even faster, supplement with Acelepryn or Bifen IT over the top of the granulars.
