Punta Cana, D.R. - White marlin tournament. This will be my second tourney there, very nice affair. Captains' meeting and ceremonies are Thursday, 25th. Fishing Friday and Saturday with an outstanding banquet to close on Sat. night. The boat is a charter, 47 Buddy Davis. Tourney format is four fishermen. So you get two fishermen on the boat and tourney merchandise and banquet/activities and calcutta. Details available on hotel and pictures later. Lemme kno

I came in here expecting Toledo Bend, Sam Rayburn or some place relatively close.

While I agree with your sentiment, D.R. isn't a 10k trip unless you try real hard to make it one...

Also this though:

Expecting a stranger from the internet to agree to an offshore fishing trip outside of the continental is a stretch. Entirely too much could go wrong or just be an emotionally uncomfortable trip for whoever agrees. Pretty fckn weird you can find someone closer to your circle! Scary weird suspect is troubling

The boat is $2000/day, tourney entry is $1300. You pay half, so $2650 for two fishermen, two days. My friend owns a hotel, so accomodations are set. He will be fishing on the boat.

Not scared. Just can't imagine telling my wife I'm going to DR marling fishing with Rantavious.

that doesn't get you much payout. you need to put up much more in optional bets to make it worthwhile

Any money won would be gravy...2 days of fishing on a tournament boat and attending tournament functions plus accommodations for $1325 a day is the win....

You gotta pay for the hotel. Nice place, a mom and pop 'hotelito'. It's not expensive, I mentioned that because the owner is fishing with me (I'm a regular). Of course there are plenty of resorts if you prefer. But this place is comfortable with good food and it would make transport easier

It's a catch and release tourney. There is a modest calcutta for top boat. Two divisions, amateur and pro. Pro division is sonar and F&S boats.

I stand corrected...still a good price on the boat alone, unless its a panga...
