Posting in Outdoor Board as y'all will know best.

Bought a pig and a portion of a steer at the FFA Auction. All getting processed by a local butcher. They told me to expect about 300 to 325 pounds of meat.

I will be buying a stand up freezer (best for space available). Suggestions on size?

Thanks!

Upright. The biggest your pocketbook can afford. They fill up quickly.

Rule of thumb for freezer meat capacity is 35-40 lbs. per cubic ft. of freezer space.

I have a 21 cu. ft. upright frost free and it's a beast. I have it in my man cave area along with a refrigerator/freezer for cold drinks, water and beer and all my different stocks in the top freezer portion.

Get the biggest you can buy and have space for.
You might say I’ll never fill this up. Wrong answer. Like a shed they fill up fast.
Just one more thing that bigger is better.

Doesn't defrost raise the temp in order to work? I was told they didn't keep nearly as cold... any truth?

Kinda of on the same subject...

These loss of power circuit alarms are pretty handy for freezers that are out of the way or in a shop/garage that is out of the way as they sometimes are.

Buzzes when power is out on the circuit the freezer/fridge is plugged into.
