Need a new scope

I have a Nikon buck master 3x8 by 42 on my 7mm 08. The scope has been on gun for over a decade and it's time for an upgrade . I want a scope with more zoom and an inch tube instead of 30mm. Price range is $800-$1,000. Any suggestions ? TIA

If I had a grand to drop on a new scope and wanted a little more zoom, I would probably pick up this Z3.
Swarovski Z3 4-12X50
ETA: I would go with the plex reticle though, which is available for $20 cheaper than the one I linked.

it's no Z6, but it will do all you need it to do

Yeah, the Z3 is their entry level line. It has a 3x zoom and 1" tubes. Awesome scope, just doesn't have the range of their other lines or the more expensive 30mm tubes.
They also offer a 3-10X42 for about $100 less. Personally, that's the route I would take, I just prefer the smaller OBJ lenses. But if you're after a little more zoom, the 4-12 is a good choice imo.

Just out of curiosity, why do you prefer 1" tube to 30mm?
Already have the 1" rings?

It allows more light in

it doesn't. both tube diameters use the same 1" erector system. all a 30mm tube offers you is a wider range of adjustment and enhanced tube rigidity

Leica ERi 2.5-10 is right at $1000 and illuminated. It is a 30mm tube though. They have awesome glass.

Ya, adding to what Carson said if you wanted to rank the tube sizes.
1"<30mm<34mm<35mm
Only downside of going bigger is weight.

Z-3 and Zeiss HD5 would be my top choices in the criteria you listed.

1" is 25m, FYI
That is a big arse tube.

So a 1 inch is not as good as a 30mm scope for low light situation ?
