Where are you hearing this from? I’ve owned multiple heavy duty trucks and the 10R140 is a fantastic transmission.

Are you purposefully ignoring the many issues about Allison’s transmission from the same website?

Nextgendiesel

This website sells aftermarket kits and wants to sell you their products. There’s nothing wrong with either transmissions in stock configurations.

I understand that you’re a GM fan but don’t mislead people. I’m a huge Ram and Ford fan who would never buy GM due to their IFS but honestly they make a decent truck too.

I just replied to your posting that the Ford transmission is a fantastic transmission.

Was it fantastic in 2021 as well, when Ford issued a recall on this fantastic transmission?

Just stop digging and admit that you’re full of crap.

Is the Allison a good transmission considering that they’re under recall now?

The GM recall is a software install fix. The fantastic Ford recall was mechanical tear down repairs. I said of the current models GM was better than Ford or Ram. The 2025 Ram with the new ZF transmission might be better than both GM or Ford. Time will tell. Ram is working hard to regain sales in the HD truck market, and knew their prior transmissions were causing the downfall.

Happy New Year

ZF PowerLine is a commercial vehicle transmission based on a proven design with more than 20 million transmissions in the market.

And 0.0 miles on the highway in a ram truck in the consumer market.

The transmission is great. The engine is OK. The integration and execution is always subject to being screwed up. I don't like doing any companies R&D for them if they aren't paying me to do it.

I ordered my new truck last week and I'm trading my 2022 F-250 Platinum with 15,000 miles. Excellent truck, obviously no issues with those few miles.

I've had 3 6.7s with no issues, and I think the 6.7 is the way to go if you need a diesel.

I think the standard output is the longest standing design at this point. The high output version has water cooled turbo and exhaust manifold, something I've been wanting to see on pickup trucks for a while now. I wish they'd ditch the CP4 fuel pump but the filtration changes made in 2019 should all but eliminate early life failures.

The truck itself is the best one on the market right now IMO and the price reflects it. That cavern of an interior on the new ones is awesome. I also like how Ford leaves the back floor flat up to the back of the cab instead of some stupid storage box thing under the seat. Ram and chevy both have that, and it really limits cab space with the seats folded up. With the seats folded up on the Ford you can almost fit a pallet on the rear floor. The interiors are incredibly well thought out.

Ford also has a great emissions systems now that they’ve added the 9th injector to the 2023 and newer trucks.

I had an older Ram 2500 and it was great except for the emissions which was constantly having issues. They’ve made some improvements since then.

I’ve now owned two Ford 6.7s and it’s a great truck. Diesels costs more upfront but you always get your money back on the backside due to less depreciation.

Go drive the 7.3 gas f250 before making any final decisions on diesel. I have a 23 model. It has a ton of power and way better get up and go than you’d expect. Very comfortable ride for a 3/4 ton as well. The price on my lariat was significantly less than the diesel of the same trim.

9th injector

Im split on this one. Cat had a lot of issues in their OTR truck engines and if I remember right the exhaust injectors were always a problem.

I had to get the HO, just because.

Love the rear seat design, it does have a little storage tray that folds up or down underneath the rear seats.

If you keep the diesel for 27.8 years, you can break even b/c of better highway MPG- that's what I myself, anyway.

You're right, that 7.3 is excellent.

I think it’ll help with fuel dilution and hopefully prevent larger issues down the road. Ford’s current system relies more on DEF and less on the EGR. My 23 is using a lot more DEF compared to my 15.

Yep, just purchased a 2024 Lariat with the 7.3 gas. My first 3/4 ton truck and really enjoying it! The transmission on my 2019 F150 with 72,000 miles gave out in Memphis on the way back from hunting in Missouri.

A 2500 diesel is almost certainly going to be overweight with a 5th wheel.

Get a gas 3/4 ton or a diesel 1 ton.

Looks like I’ll be shopping in the coming week. Need complete engine reseal to stop the oil leaks. Looking at a dealer bill of around $6,900

Oof

Still way less than a down payment on a new one! It'll never be right again after getting ripped apart though. Pour some stop leak in that bitch pour a 40 out in the bed and trade it in.

As I said, 1 ton dodge with the aisin or a ford.

Personally, I'd get the chevy right now but I get it.

I got a 2018 dodge 2500 diesel that's always for sale
