Natural gas crawfish burner???

I am installing a gas line under the overhang on my new back porch for my Weber grill. Should I add another line for a crawfish burner or stick to propane so that I can pull it away from the house and grass yard?

We jerry rugged a setup like that and used a garden hose from our meter to our backyard.
Probably shouldn’t have done that but it worked.
Took wayyyyy too long to boil though

My Dad always used natural gas to boil bugs. If I remember right, he had to drill out the hole just a little bit bigger. Also, he did install a good valve to control the gas flow.

Add a line. Make sure you get a burner designed for natural gas. The pressure with natural gas is not enough to just have bigger orifices. Check out the g4 burners. Takes a little longer than LP but you don’t have to mess with the tank

I have a natural gas burner and yes, you should run a line. Run the biggest line you can, I used 3/4" because that's what feeding my entire house.
I made my own burner. It's a 32 jet natural gas burner that I got from the Hardware store near my house, I have 3/4" hose that's about 15' long feeding it. It wont keep up with a double jet propane and is a little slower than a single jet but I don't have a problem having to wait an extra 5 minutes for it to come to a boil, trade off is I never have to go out and buy propane. One thing you should also do is get a heat shield to go around the pot to help hold the heat in. It helps out a good deal. I'll try to post pictures if your interested, or would probably be easier for me to make a short YouTube video though.

Keep in mind it’s that much further you’ll have to carry the pot full of water to dump. And you’ll have crawfish water on your porch floor when you pull batches. You’d also be boiling in the middle of where everyone will congregate which I’d advise against, especially when children are around.

Excellent advice.

I have a 32 tip wok setup off Ebay. Takes my 80q takes 20mins to boil. But the best part is that it doesn't make hardley any noise. No yelling for someone to grab you another beer.

Natural Gas Burner
I miss spoke in the video. The burner was a single jet burner that I bought from WalMart. I modified it to accept the 32 jet burner that I bought from the Hardware store. If you have any questions ask or want to see something better I can get a picture for you. Excuse the mess under the patio, I really need to pressure my house. I have about $100-125 in this burner, its 12 years old and about time to be redone.

I use a 3/4" fuel transfer hose. It screws into a 3/4" NPT fitting. The brand is Fill-Rite. Can be had on Amazon for about $30. Go to MB Sturgis and get a true 3/4" quick connect coupler. This is vital. Try to tap into a minimum 3/4" gas pipe, 1" even better. Closer to the meter, the better. Mine will boil a pot in about 15-20 mins. I use a 32 jet burner off of ebay.

My parents installed a port on the house when they built it. They knew they'd be boiling a lot. Many years ago, they switched to propane. Like someone else said, it too to long to boil.

Should not take long at all if you're setup correctly for it. I can boil just as fast as my neighbor's propane setup. Plus it's much quieter and cheaper to operate when considering the difference in price of NG vs propane.
I live on the water and my neighbor's bedroom window is right next to where I boil. I've boiled crabs at 10 at night. He never heard a thing. Can't do that on propane

this shows how to make a regular burner into a natural gas burner at a cheap price.
it works great for my 80 gallon pot and the time to boil is just about double that of propane and return to boil times are also doubled but it works great and pays for itself in propane savings and ease of use.
what to use and how to make it - LINK
this is it in operation - LINK
the key is all in the burner ring, thats why it works, you need all those jets to get the heat. without the jet ring a regular burner converted to gas takes forever to heat the pot because you just dont have a big enough heat source
