Happened to me this morning. Last night they started showing .22 in stock. I woke up early this morning and went up there. I found an asst. mgr. and he said they didn't have any. I told him to open the boxes that were in plain sight behind the counter. All that was there was birdshot. He said as soon as they get billed for the truckload, it shows up in stock, sometimes 2 days in advance. He was acting fishy, but no way I could argue. Guess what...that same ammo is now showing out of stock. I hate a liar almost as much as Coot Killa hates dogs.

I guess people should demand to speak to supervisors of locations when this goes on. It is utterly ridiculous that their employees operate like this on such a wide scale. I haven't encountered anything similar in other sporting goods retailers. I could not believe the clerk this morning who got so irate at the guy for asking to speak to a manager.

I've had the same experience with wal mart.

There is one close by my house that I check every time we go for any random thing. Haven't purchased anything in months.

This morning I swing by because I was picking up a for sale sign. They had 2 50 rd. boxes off WWB .45 auto so I knew they got some stuff in.

I ask the girl and she says no they don't have anything I asked about. Then she says, "Wait a minute. You've been in here a lot..."

Poof! Out from behind the counter comes 1 20 rd/ box of tula steel case .223 for $5.72!

Of course I bought it...

Then she tells me the exact days they get the truck... I can't share that info, but this wasn't the day and it was 10:30 in the morning when this ammo magically appeared.

shite is real shady, but I don't think they have the supervisory complications that stores that specialize in outdoor stuff do.

It's been the little old redneck corner for so many years with employees who can't print a hunting license to save their life. Now they are in charge of the hottest commodity South of the Mason Dixon, and nobody is there watching them.

The trick is to peg out which Wal-Marts are workable. Out of four Wal-Marts in the area I know to avoid one even if ammo shows available, to only check one at 7:30-8:00 if I'm in the area, and to try to get to another one every time they show something in stock. I guess one out of four isn't a terrible average..........

Last 223 I scored at a WalMarks was in Plaquemine. I looked around the counter since there was noone in the area working and spotted 6 boxes under the counter. I went and found the sprorting goods cashier and her answer was "naw, everyone axes for dat but we ain't got none in a while" to which I respond "then what is that under the register", her jaw dropped and I paid for my limit of 3 boxes. I'm sure her cousin beat her arse for selling it, but IDGAF.

My hunch is the have 'regulars' who give them extra cash to hold it back for them, or they sell it to pawnshops.

It's not wal-mart's fault.. they're distributing it.
It's the pos cosby kids working there that aren't worth a shite even when not buying ammo.
Sadly that's the only people they have to work there.

Did someone say they were having luck at the watson walmarks? Wonder why...

I think the Academy gun counter might be hiding guns. I've been for the longest trying to catch a m&p shield in stock, well I was n there on a sat morning and made my normal check and of course they where out ,but the couple young guys checked the computer and swore one showed being on the truck that would be in tues morn. Tuesday morn I'm there for opening and sure enough guns are stacked everywhere and they are in the process of checking them in,I inquire about the shield and in a really short rude tone I get "NOPE NONE CAME,,WHO TOLD YOU THAT! End of story no "let me check" or "yeah we should have but...." Why be so defensive and short if your not doing anything wrong? Hindsight I wished I would have gone to a manager but was so surprised with the way he acted I just left.

Not sure about guns, but Academy seems to be on the up and up with their ammo. I picked up a box of .22 there tonight. I think selling it at Customer Service is keeping folks honest.

Plus their stores don't seem to employ as many Obama voters.

Everytime i've been to academy they tell me they don't know what's on the truck. It shows up from the dist. And they unload it.

This was before the ammo craze. I was looking for a duck call or something.

Well I know they can check inventory at other stores, different employees at different locations have done it for me numerous times, I have no proof that he could really see what was on the next shipment but both him and another guy said one was coming that tues. Maybe they can see it but aren't supposed to give out that info? Maybe that's why the other guy was wanting to know who told me?

I think it IS WM's fault. WM is responsible for the actions its employees working at the WM store. If an employee misbehaves and mistreats customers, lies to customers, hides products from customers, etc, the employer should take action against the wayward employee. The problem here is that I've not been impressed w/ most of the management I've seen at WM's, including my local store. I wouldn't expect management at our local WM to hold its employees accountable for such improper actions. If WM has poor quality employees, they should hire better employees and cut loose the substandard ones. Unfortunately, WM is the only store w/in 30 miles that sells ammo. It's hard to boycott a store because of the actions of its employees when you don't have any other options to buy from.......

They are one of the largest companies in the world. They are doing just fine. This little ammo thing dont mean shite to them. The sell more cottage cheese in one day than a week of ammo.
