I have a 3 year old lab who up until yesterday the only thing she wanted to do was to go outside and play fetch in the backyard. All of a sudden she is absolutely terrified to go out there. If i even say it she puts her tail in her legs and goes to the back of the house to hide. She is fine going to the front yard, if I open the front door she is as happy as can be. The only thing I can think of is that something happened to her. Anyone ever have any experience with something like this? I put some ferns out there this weekend but don't know why that would be the issue.

My GSP does that occasionally...to the T.

Wait it out...she'll get back out to playing.

Not that i've ever seen, definitely not anywhere where they could shoot her.

Any meters in the back of the house? Possibility of getting sprayed with pepper spray by a meter reader?

There's a meter back there but she only gets left in the backyard on the weekends so I doubt that happened.

Something happened out there. Unfortunately it's going to be a mystery.

Mine got stung by a red wasp in a certain area of our backyard and will not go near the area. Now he’s really finicky/scary when the deer flies are bad. But he’s good when dialed in the duck blind; its strange, but I wouldn’t look too much into it...

My retriever got lit up by a few yellow jackets who had built a nest right on the other side of our fence. He wouldn't go in the backyard for a couple weeks. I don't blame him. I hate those things myself.

Deer flies. They are horrible this year. My yellow lab came running back to me out at the lake one day, and I thought to myself, wtf. Nothing chasing him and his tail between his leg. Then I saw one chasing him and he didn't want any part of it. Kinda of funny.

Do you have an electric fence? I have a buried wire with two different loops so the dogs can't get on the driveway. One of the loops got cut by an armadillo and the shock range of the other one increased. Both dogs got lit up in their house and wouldn't go near it for 2 weeks. They sit in the rain and stare at the door now

My gf's GSP was getting tortured by horse flies the other weekend, while my lab was just chilling right next to her. They weren't bothering him at all. She kept spinning around in circles trying to catch them. Funniest thing I've seen in a while

they look pathetic lol. they can see through most of the house so they switch windows depending on which room you walk to.
