The .243 was on the list of “shoots well without a lot of recoil”. Not really saying it’s a better or worse round. Just saying we have several that already shoot well without much recoil.

Wasn’t a good shot on those...

In the last few years my son has gotten two deer. 6.8 spc and 6.5 grendel. Both DRT

I’ve shot one with the 6.5 cm. It was DRT

Sure looks fun on paper. I was telling my son the other day that I’d like a 6.5 x 300. We have long, narrow lanes in CRP, as well as field edges. Nice to have the extra reach. With the right scope, a 6.5 CR would work well for those conditions, also.

I want a 26 or 28 for that reason too. We got some bean fields & turnrows where it would work. Started reloading for my 30 Nos, and reeaally want to see what the others can do.

I like to reload but lifes busy right now. Factory ammo for the 6.5 creed is flat out awesome and cheap.

That's a VERY good point you make and a BIG part of the CM's success. Amongs factory rounds, I think the CM has some of the most accurate ammo available. For the most part the ammo is very effective for typical deer hunting. It's really hard to make a 6.5 mm deer bullet that doesn't work well. I killed 2 deer this year w/ my "6.5 CM" (although the headstamp on the brass reads "260 Remington"). The 120 gr Speer spire point diid well on this buck as well as a plump doe. Sorry to hear you don't have time to reload. Hoping that improves in the future.

To hate a caliber because millennials/bubba think they are 1000yd marksman out the box seems extreme.

Again, I don't think anyone hates a caliber itself, the disdain is the for the misleading marketing that has led to a rise in the mindset that the rifle is holding the shooter back and not the other way around. This can lead to unethical shots with bullets that were never intended to do anything but clank against steel.

Its all good. The 5 year old is enjoying pulling triggers so at least we get to shoot.

He likes the suppressed AR, need to ger him a cricket or something that he can actually shoot though, lol.

I figured the Noslers would have been on there, especially the 30.

6.5x300 is like a 264 WIN times a trillion, I don't see how a barrel can hold that little rocket. Would be amazing on deer at 500 on out.

Your pet lost. It lost for valid reasons. Quit being an idiot about it. The Creed is superior in every way possible.

When did all you six five pussies get so recoil sensitive? Thank god that wasn’t an issue when the US fielded the .30-06 or we’d be speaking German and Jap.

Personally seen those results with a Berger 135gr on a 240# cull buck. Baseball size exit wound, 475 yds down a turnrow,

buddies son bought one with his xmas money and was telling me that the guy at academy told him “ sucker shoots dead on out to 500yds” !!

You must shop at the same Academy I do. Overheard the kid at the gun counter telling a customer that it was made for "long range hunting" and it was more accurate than other calibers.

Also, a overheard a guy at work say "you know that 6.5 Creedmoor only drops a couple inches at 1,000 yards."

ETA: I don't own one and have never shot one. I do have a Grendel in an AR platform that has been deadly on deer but only out to about 240 or so. I've never been a fan of the Creedmoor, but I have to say all the factory ammo offerings do make it appealing. The above mentioned Academy carries about 10 different options for 308 and at least 2x that for the CM.

The key is the massive amounts of load development. Nice to have options when buying ammo. That bodes well for the future of the 6.5 CR.

Short action
Available rifles
Available ammo
Sectional density
Ballistic coefficient
Muzzle velocity either higher, or right at it with comparable grain bullets(brands differ but good luck in stores with the Mauser)
Energy with comparable grain bullets. See above.
Bullet designs and variety
It's prettier

So, fits in a short action and has better marketing.

They use the same bullets, and the swede has more case capacity and can be loaded longer. The lapua 155gr load is pushing 2550 fps, 150fps faster than the creedmore 154 gr load. The creedmore cannot do anything that the swede cannot do better. Get reloading involved and the difference is drastic.

It's an example of spectacular marketing campaign, not spectacular performance.
