Mississippi River Catfishing on Levee in New Orleans off the chart right now

I saw ten different people yesterday fishing the levees between Audubon Zoo and the Huey P Long tearing up the catfish from the shoreline. Several caught catfish over 30 pounds but most were between 3-5 pounds. Each had a stringer of no less than 20 fish.

May go bag me some whisker fish for Father's Day. I'll bring some white cans if any OB want to join.

I was thinking the same thing. Go and chump up the water with some cans of chicken livers for a day or two and then go hit them with some livers and some worms

I've never catfished before. Worms the preferred bait? Does anyone recommend the "stinkbait" that you find at Academy?

go chum em up wit largest cans of the cheapest and nastiest dog food you can find, go to town on em wit ice pick or screw driver til dat nasty shite dripping out, den sling dos cans out on a string to keep em close, come back in 30 minutes and fill dat #1 foot tub up, I shite you not...

25 or 50 pounds of dog food will start a feeding frenzy right now that’s for sure. 100 pounds will create a scent path from New Orleans to Braithwaite.

LOL You sound like an experienced man! It would be awesome to tie some hooks to the onion sack.

Sitting there for a day tightlining for catfish would be my favorite way to spend a day

What kind of bait? I’m a big fan of slicker (sp?) when you can find it.

Chicken liver in a piece of panty hose.

It won’t stay on your hook no time in s strong current. I would put it in panty hose.

I’ve always used live bream for flatheads, and cut bream for channel cats.
