I have a farm in north central MS. The deer in MS are very small.

Mine is just east of Brookhaven. This guy is the biggest i've seen on my property.

MS is going to be hit or miss unless you’re going with big money friends in the Delta, around Natchez, or along the Big Black River.

Don't forget about the eastern counties along the Tombigbee. I'm originally from Eutaw, AL, just across the line from Lowndes. There are big bucks in the Monroe/Lowndes/Noxubee area of Mississippi too. I also hunt a spot in Tate County; we will have some really big bucks every few years bit not like I am used to back in Greene County, AL

What part of Missouri?

The north west. I ran into people from all over up there. A good bit of Vietnamese folks hunting the wma as well. I ran into a couple that were really deep into the wma, said they were from Texas and had tried a different wma that morning and couldn’t fit another vehicle in the parking area. I wanna say the whole wma they were talking about was only like 200-300 acres too.

Tut Hill Tiger..
I'm right at the Break Line for the 2 types.
Who the hel.l knows what's running around the swamps behind my house.
I don't hunt them anymore but I can sure point out a spot and say he's roosting right over there. Up to you to call him in . My neighbor feeds them all year and sometimes thy run the wall of the swamp in my back yard in the morning.
100 MPH headed for corn about a quarter mile away.

Couple Fine Bucks there Men...
Now to clarify things.
I'm not looking for a Guided hunt , That ain't hunting to me.
Texas , Been there for Aoudad sheep and seen some fine Bucks but I'm not a Feeder / Shooting house kinda guy.
Body size don,t matter... 50 pounds body size and a 130 or better rack and I'm good...Heck if his body fit in a Zip loc bag I'm good.
I picked Mississippi cause it's within reasonable driving distance from the Florida Big Bend.
No need to travel the World to do this.
Retired 2 years ago so I got the time.
It's a Bucket list thing for me , I've shot a 100 deer already just all Sand hill scrub bucks cause that's all we got here.
Any hot inside info... islandrepairs@aol.com.
I'll buy you a beer

Been hunting MS public land all over MS for almost 40 years. Have killed a lot of good bucks but that comes with a lot of miles on the boots and hours in the stand. Don’t expect to come here for a long weekend and have a legit chance at killing a good buck. They are around but they are highly educated and lotta space between them.

From what I’ve seen the past 10 years or so and in the traveling around hunting I’ve done if I was gonna go somewhere in this area for a DIY walk in and hunt thing I think I’d be looking much harder at Black Warrior WMA and the surrounding NF in Alabama. There have been some sure enough bulls killed there lately. Google black warrior wma bucks and start packing your bags

True. The MS/AL Black Belt produces some big deer, too. There are some big money camps there.

Social media has ruined many a public lands.

Kill your big buck, put him low in the truck bed, drop the tag in a different unit box, cause the Agents have friends , and go home. Stay off FB, et.al.

I think the higher and higher prices of private land are what's ruining public land.
