Mississippi crappie fishing thread: ETA 3/31

Any baws had luck at any of the reservoirs yet? I live basically the same distance from all of them and wondering if anyone has had any luck. Spillways? Upper ends in the stumps? All the lakes are about as low as I can remember seeing them so getting to the right spots in the lakes is tricky right now, and honestly kinda dangerous if you don’t have waders in case you bottom out.
Gonna be blistering cold this weekend but I really want to go fishing anyway. What’s your best advice on what to do for this weekend in particular? Should be able to tear them up in a month or so but I’m bored enough to take my chances. I believe all the spillways are basically cut off or near so at the moment.

What reservoirs you talking about? I can't answer your question but me and Lil Ballz will be taking a trip to Grenada Lake this spring. My buddy has a deer camp about 20 minutes from there. We will most probably hire a guide.

We have a trip set in early March to wade fish Grenada. Buddy said early March was the best time to wade and is definitely different then the salt water wading I do

Should be a great weekend for ice fishing.

I grew up in Coffeeville and have lots of relatives in Grenada . Used to catch unbelievable stringers years ago up the Skuna River . Hard for people to realize what that area was like in the 60s and 70s.

Arkabutla, Sardis, Enid, Grenada
I live laughably all within 15 minutes of each dam so it’s take your pick. Each of them have merits of their own. Arkabutla and especially Grenada have the best spillways. Enid is secretly the best for lake fishing probably no one lives there and it’s forgotten. Arkabutla is great when it gets flooded into the brush. I have a love/hate relationship with Sardis. It’s the largest but the lower lake almost ruins the spillway but then again the lower lake is a unique opportunity in itself for a couple of weeks a year.
I know the tricks and what I’m doing, just haven’t been fishing much in a few years. This thread is mainly asking if anyone has had any success so far and how.

lol yeah I’m not gonna be able to do it. The forecast has progressively gotten worse. I might periodically bump this thread though to see how other slab lovers are fairing over the next couple of months

ETA
Caught 38 eaters at Arkabutla spillway last weekend. According to army corps of engineers it’s double the spillway output today. Same with all the lakes
Today is the day. Tackle up

ETA again.
Spillway fishing seems to be good across all lakes. I always consider Grenada the goat.
Anyway we live close to the upper end of Sardis. Sardis is a bitch of a lake, seems to be angled perfectly for oncoming storms. We’ve had terrible weather, small tornadoes and shitloads of rain and currently lake intake is over 19,000cfs. Crappie fishing is difficult right now. Also the angle of Sardis creates someonewhat of a wind tunnel.
Anyway we got a new boat and had to try it out. Used shad and small bass (the bass that is I caught out of my own pond) as cutbait and found a decent area next to the river bed north of Wyatt’s crossing (knew where it was because GPS, technology can be a beautiful thing). Caught 4 blue cats 4-6 lbs each in shitty weather conditions. Also about a 4 lb drum ,which I don’t like to frick with
If weather subdues it is time. If you have a boat I recommend Enid. Is often forgotten and the best lake fishing for crappie.
This website is updated every day by USACE. It is very useful Inflow, outflow, etc.
If you like crappie I suggest you use it.
Cheers folks
