Lsufan, how far down are yall? We'd taken over my grandparents camp down in that little horse shoe community a couple yrs back. We pulled all of our shite for the last flood and never been back. I understand that you all have been there a while now but what's the reason for fighting so hard to stay?! Sherburnes good hunting has been dead and gone for many yrs now and what used to be a descent place is all port barre mouth breathers.
hold the frick on what about the lawtell mouth breathers.

We about half way between the two old landings. We don't hunt there anymore and almost never fish anymore either. Fishing isn't like it was when I was a kid. Just a quiet place to relax and be outdoors and my kids love that. even the quiet part about it is going away now. There is just a different type of people that seem to be there now and a lot more of them.

choupiquesushi, is there a difference?
those nasty fricks have found each other and are cross breeding, not good at all. Oh and yes the type of folks on that end are going from bad to worse. Do a lot of hunting and fishing in the northern parts of the state now a days and I'll be the first to say that I muuuuuch rather deal with the red necks than those ppl. Lot of ppl mistake the boys from the hills as trash when really they're pretty good ole boys. Being country and poor doest make them bad ppl.

Yeah it is lower, but it would have to be a flood of biblical proportions before they would use this spillway. It would flood everything from Simmesport to Hamburg in between the levees.
They wouldn't have a choice to on whether or not to "use" this spillway if the water gets high enough. It would get used if mother nature decides to use it. With that being said you can say that about any levee I guess.

I'm curious about what you mean by "different type of people" at sherburne? Why's exactly do you mean

I will say this, back in my first ventures there chasing woodcock in 90s and early 2000s... we stopped and chatted with some of those folks....
none too chatty now a days.. heck most don't even wave
Posted on 1/6/16 at 2:23 pm to TulaneUVA
They are talking about the people that own camps...
Posted on 1/6/16 at 2:28 pm to choupiquesushi
Different? Idk where to start... I've been in so many small towns and community's in La I wouldn't know where to start naming. However, I can without a doubt say that Port Barre on to the river is by a long shot the grossest, most no good sobs I've ever been around.

I'm referring mostly to the weekend people just passing through. i don't really care if people wave to us even though it's nice when people stop and say hello, it pisses me off when people see the kids walking around and still drive by hauling arse, not seeming to care if they hit someone or even respectful enough not to dust out the people by the water.

yep.. that's a two way street

lsufan35, that's locals passing down there and not weekend visitors. Only ppl with business down Big Bama rd are ppl with camps down there because it's all private shite. There was a hand full of camps with ppl from Acadia parish and us Evangeline parish folks that visited and enjoyed the camp life. The rest were trash from that area who were fricking intolerable to be around or speak to.

So we have decided the water will flood our yuppies and intolerable coonasses at sherburne
Can we discuss river stages again now???

Not to hijack but, will they shut down sherburne once they open the Morganza? Just for deer? Or ducks? Or everything? Asking for a friend
