Anyone have experience with this trolling motor? My old Xi5 feels like it’s about to bite it, so I think I’ll be in the market soon.
I could save a few bucks by going without the auto deploy. Seems very convenient but not sure if it’s worth it.
Going on a 22’ deep v CC
Thanks!

The rich guides all have them and I would’ve heard if there were any complaints. Big Lake was one of MK’s testing grounds.
They were breaking shafts but those were the 110” models, would buy if I were rich.

Incredible motors. Two of my guys run them very hard in Venice. Been nails thrust and longevity w both LA and Lithium way better than others.

I have had mine about a year and a half now. I did a little research and talked to some folks before hand. Pulled the trigger on one of the new auto deploy models. It’s has been absolutely flawless so far. Guys I talked to said Minn Kota really put in a lot of time and effort into testing the new models with some local guides before rolling them out for sale to the public.
Also, it’s probably double the weight of the previous generation models.

I have a quest Terrova. It has been awesome so far. The mount is huge and everything extremely solid. The newly designed depth collar is way easier to use than the old one.

About to order my new boat this fall and I will be ordering one on it. I have the Ulterra now and its around 3 years old and has been great on my boat. Moving to the Instinct and have heard good things about it

Ever wish you had the instinct with auto deploy? I think it’s about an extra thousand dollars.

I looked at one in a recent new boat purchase. My sales guy said they’ve had a lot of issues with them. He also said they’ve obstruct view as well. I went with the manual deploy Minn Kota…I think it’s a Terrova.

Bet a crisp $100 that your salesman didn’t have one in stock to sell you. Other than the long shaft models break there have been almost not problems with the new motors.

I have the ulterra now and to be honest, I will never go back to a manual deploy trolling motor. Not having to get my old arse up on the front deck of my boat 50 times a day is priceless.
My ulterra self deploy has been flawless. Just make sure you have plenty of power for it and do the basic maintenance.

Maybe the old gen’s but not the new ones. People are still hung up on the old ones and all the problems they had. The new ones are a completely new design. Love my auto deploy.

Glad to hear they fixed the problems. That was the main reason I didn’t go with auto deploy on the one I bought last year.
