I have a Ranger 1000. Looking to make it quieter during hunting season. The Koplin muffler just doesn’t do enough. Though about buying a cheap car muffler to add on or my buddy suggested a heater hose. Am I SOL and should just look for a used golf cart to use?

I have a really bad back. Like 2 spinal fusions and have a spinal cord stimulator bad. So walking far to my stand is a no go.

I would love to have the noise level of a stock Polaris sxs. My 2014Yamaha Viking is really loud. The metal bed and engine just underneath it it just makes it awful. You can't hold a conversation in it while driving.

If that’s the case don’t buy a golf cart they ride rough compared to a SxS unless you have a manicured trail system you will regret it.
As for the noise the best thing you can do is use the sxs a lot all year long so that deer are conditioned to it and not hearing it opening day of deer season.

If you want to address it, Spray on bed-liner should help a little bit. It cuts down on the reverberation.
And you may try some automotive sound deadening insulation for underneath the bed.

This. Add sound deadening material or the rubber roof adhesive to the bed, frame around motor, floor, skidplate - anywhere engine sound can bounce off of or resonate from. Move the air intake (snorkel) will help cab noise since most are right between the seats.

Dynamat

You can also get some horse stall mat from. Tractor supply and cut to length for the bed. It's heavy but enough to keep it from rattling.

You can proabuse the excess and cut into straps to go under it at wedge points.

The muffler on my small Go Devil was loud when it was new and rusted out after a few years. I replaced it with round tractor muffler from NAPA store that was about 4" dia and 15" long.

I went to a muffler shop and the guy welded up a few fitting so I could bolt it up to the engine. This made a big difference. When you find something you think will work for you..... get the next bigger size.

You will probably need to add a brace or two to keep it from vibrating while driving.

atv silencer/benz silent rider works pretty well. I had it on my 2010 Ranger 800. It's hard to tell the difference while you are riding it though. Go with silencer, carpet in the bed, and weather stripping where bed latches down to frame.

This may not help, but frankly a few years ago I started walking to my stand, testing different distances between 1/2mi & 1mi. Had deer on camera constantly day and night. Rarely showed up when I was in the stand. One day, I said f*k it, drove straight under the stand with a 12 pack of beer, climbed in and started working on the windows with a power drill. About 30min in, I looked up and there’s an 8pt coming straight to me from 100 yds out. Didn’t have a gun, but haven’t walked to a stand since, and deer will literally walk right up to the buggy. It spooks them sometimes at first, and they may run, but they always come right back within a few minutes.

It’s my belief that if there’s regular riding, putting out feed every few days and driving to the stand, the deer pay it no attention. And if there is regular riding to put out feed, the second you step out the buggy and start walking, every deer within 500 yards are watching.

If you’re worried about the noise get one of those small Samaria jeeps or something. The deer will still hear a muzzled muffler, so imo it’s a waste unless you’re also doing it do quell the noise in general, and not just for hunting.

Last year the deer started coming to my 4 wheeler. I have several videos of refreshing my feeder the pulling to the end of the lane about 100 yards and the deer coming out with me still sitting there on it seconds later.
