She won't like it anyway, she only likes her S&W642 revolver.

There is nothing wrong with a 40. Shoot a person with a 9, 40 or 45 and see what happens. Hell shoot a person with a 22 at close range in the chest cavity and see what happens? May take a little longer but results are results. You shoot someone hopped up on drugs and its going to take multiple shots with any caliber. Its more about the ammo you are shooting than the caliber!

I agree to a certain extent, but just for the sake of it, I'll keep my gun and you can have the 22, ok amigo?

I have a Glock 23. It is a compact 40. Give it a shot. It is the perfect dependable gun given your application. Bapple would probably be a great person to listen to on this topic. The Glock is a solid choice.

What about a Walther PPQ? Worth looking at?

The Glock is on the list

If you want your wide to shoot the gun and its for home protection (which no pistol is the best for that) do yourself a favor and go and shoot the .40 and .45. The .40 recoil sucks. It is a high pressure round and is a very sharp recoil. Not very fun to shoot. The .45 is a big slow moving chunk of lead and the recoil is much more enjoyable when shooting.

Of the "best" guns look at some 1911s (almost all of them are very good), Sig Sauer, and H&K.

The Sig and the H&K will have higher capacity than the 1911. Just see which fits your hand the best.

It's funny because it's true.

Holy shite. Will someone help this guy?

Renfro if you want a good 40, I think the M&P40 pro you listed is great. I just purchased an M&P40 Pro Series CORE the other day and I love it. All M&P's are very ergonomic and have interchangeable grip panels to fit the hands of any shooter.

The reason people don't suggest 40 for a woman is because 40 is a high pressure round. Like any high pressure round, when the round is fired, the slide speed is increased when compared to a 9mm or a 45. The whole "bigger = more recoil" is a bit overplayed.

Check out my video here about Caliber and Felt Recoil. It'll give you a better idea of what I'm talking about:

Caliber and Felt Recoil.

I hope this was helpful. Both the XD and M&P are great guns but you should definitely gets something that fits both you and your lady. I think that would be the M&P.

The PPQ is also pretty sweet but you should handle them before you buy.
