ent, plan your splitting in one day. Starts every time and zero maintenance.
Might work for most people, looked into it, rental place is 30 minutes away from camp, only open till noon on Saturday, I am only at camp Friday afternoon to Sunday evening , just does not work for me
Use non ethanol gas and run dry at end of season and most of your maintenance issues are taken care of

I have done that 40 plus years, have a bad back and will have a knee replacement in the coming months. On top of that, my son, who helps me, is about to move out. The thought of purchasing the log splitter is not because I am lazy, it’s about being realistic of what I will need in the future.

How old are you Sir?

I've had the harbor freight predator for almost 7 years now. Not a single problem from it and we split about 4 cords of hardwood a year. It's not the strongest splitter ever made but it has split some knawly knotted up logs that I didn't think it would. Pro tip: the predator has a double sided wedge so it splits both directions. If you have some one stacking you can make the build a sweat quick. Lol If I could change one thing it would be able to split verticle as well as horizontal.

We have a going on 15-20 year old MTD from lowes. I believe its a 27T but not sure. Split maybe 3-4 cords a year, but other than having to clean the spark plug, its been rock solid. It does stay under cover.

Not joking but have you tried splitting with a maul and wedges before?
If the tree(s) aren’t that big and you’re splitting a cord or less, a maul, not an axe, would make quick work if you’re physically able.
