Little River and Pomme de Terre WMA

It looks like I got picked for the new Alligator Recreation Lotto.
I choose area C. My main options would be Little River or Pomme De Terre WMA. Unless someone with private land wants me to get a couple of gators off their hands
Have a 17CC aluminum boat. Little River looks plenty doable, are there a good amount of gators there? Is Sutton Lake on Pomme navigable without a surface drive?

If that's your only boat option, then Little River. You'd probably want a surface drive for Pomme de Terre if it's not dry. At least Little River is an actual river.

I didn't realize that you could use the new recreational tags on WMAs. You might want to look into that. After reading about it I remember coming away with the impression that the tags were for private or specific recreational zones and couldn't be used where there were allocations for commercial tags or general public wma lottery areas. There's probably some fine print I missed, though.
Good luck and I hope you get some big ones.

You are correct. It is only a very small number of the WMA's that are included. The WMA's I am familar with that are crawling with gators are not included.

Which Little River are you referencing? Ive caught nuisance gators in that general, years ago, on several different Old or Little Rivers.

Gotcha. Was thinking you may have meant one of the ones in Avoyelles.
I dont think Ive ever been on that WMA, but I did have nuisance complaints on Little River and most of the Grant Parish lakes in that area. My memory of those areas was that alligator population and density was a bit low - likely due to slightly cooler water from the spring fed creeks. Its been a while though.
Anywhere else you looking?

I imagine the south end of the WMA closer to Kitterlin Bay and Catahoula would be better.
