I have a S&W 9mm which I like a whole lot (only gun I have). I hear people complain about it having a heavy trigger pull but it really doesn't effect me. For my next gun I will either go with a Glock or one of the Smith and Wesson M&P series guns. I have not shot a very big variety of guns but have gotten more into them lately and plan on changing that.

Favorite one that I own is my H&K USP .40 it fits my hand really well and the safety/mag release is very easy to operate. Also recoil is very tame and accuracy is great.

CZ-75. Because it appears to be the grandchild of the 1911.

Ruger .45 Have killed a few hogs with it. Sucker is loud though. Main reason it's my favorite is because it's the only pistol I have owned.

My first pistol was a Glock 22 (.40 holds 15 rounds) and it is still my favorite. It's fool proof. I have NEVER had it jam. I have since gotten much cooler pistols (my Glock 22 doesn't have a rail for accessorizing), but I still love to shoot my Glock 22.

Every man needs at least one 1911!!

It is definitely my favorite and I own about 15 other pistols of various calibers and styles.

My second favorite is the Browning Hi Power.

I beleive that the single action, cock and lock type semi-autos (especially those designed by John Browning) are the easiest to learn to shoot well and have the most accurate first shot.

The 1911 talk here makes it even harder for me to decide on a pistol.

It doesn't have much stopping power. However, when using the back tip ammo (hollow points) it would be very effective as a defensive weapon. It can shoot around 2200 fps (black tip), can pierce body armor, can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger, and can be accurate up to 100 yards. The clip holds 20 rounds and an extended clip can hold 30 rounds. It is meant to be complimentary to the P90 assault rifle.

The FiveseveN was designed strictly for armor piercing. It sucks as a self defense gun otherwise and would be low on my list unless I had the AP ammo and was defending my self against people in armor. unknownknight, yes I know it can kill someone. I could kill someone with a red rider BB gun with the right shot, but there are better tools for the job. You wouldn't use a wrench to bang a nail into a board. Having said that, I bet they are fun as frick to shoot and I would love to own one.

Also, anytime you write about firearms use the terms clip and magazine correctly, otherwise everyone will picture you as the guy who's gun knowledge has been obtained from steven seagal movies and call of duty.

That is a no win argument. There are many, many quality 1911´s out there.

Most commonly quoted are the Kimbers and Springfields, but the Taurus and Sig 1911´s have a lot going for them for the money. You can always go the uber expensive Ed Browns,Les Bear´s etc if you have to have the ultimate.

FWIW, mine is a Sig 1911 and I am completely satisfied with it.

Of all the things that put gun guys in a bad light, this has to be number 1 for me. If you can't let go of the clip/magazine thing, you just look like a massive douche.

Clip is something bullets go in. A magazine is something you read

Why does it make someone a massive douche to use the correct terminology? Just curious
