Are these float coats warm / comfortable?
Yes

Do they hinder your ability to shoulder a shotgun?
Absolutely, at least the Onyx brand one I have does. I wear it running in the boat when it is cold and an auto inflatable one while actively hunting for a watercraft.

I wore my dry suit this past weekend and it was the right decision due to the wind and waves. Life jacket was on over the drysuit.
Float coats are good option as well.

warm-yes
comfortable-for the most part, yes
shooting- for the most part no, but they are designed more so for cold weather boating. i would presume, or at least the way it works for everyone i know, the coat is used for the ride in/ride out, rather than while hunting. generally speaking you need an extra coat and then life vest for the ride, and this just combines the 2. waterproof, windproof, and safe

Years ago, My fishing buddy and I had to fish two Samoan guys out of one of the lakes here. The water temperature was in the low 50's. They had flipped their canoe. Neither had on life jackets. I always wear mine on the water.

I haven't seen a float coat for shooting there could be one.
Mine is bright orange with reflective stuff on it so I use it while under power in the large boats and wear other stuff when in the pirouge that I can hunt out of.
