Ever had problems with it getting rancid?

I'm asking so many questions because I'm going pick up some new boots today

I have never had one go rancid. I have been using it for about 3 years now.

I got the recommendation from a friend who is an old competition shooter and all around gun nut. (literally has well over 1000 firearms)

He has been using it for 30+ years.

Have you ever used some wax or polish? I've never had any of my leather mildew. Are the holsters being stored in a high humidity area? My approach to leather care is pretty simple: saddle soap to clean it; mink oil as a conditioner and polish (some folks use wax) as a protectant. I don't expose my leather products to extreme temperatures, e.g. ovens or stoves. I've read that as far as the environement, treat leather like you would your own skin.

They are old military holsters and not exposed to humidity. There are some good ideas offered here.
