Apparently it was deer hunters that got pissed because of boat traffic (duck hunter) in that little channel. So to decrease that traffic, they cut trees to block the channel. They are targeting 4 people, 2 of which they have been told who they were by local hunters.

BAN FOR LIFE Guidry said that once the culprits are arrested, tried and convicted the department will seek to ensure that they are banned from Spring Bayou forever, and possibly from any state wildlife area. The tree-cutting also blocked access to Avoyelles School Board 16th Section lands, but no trees were cut on School Board land, Volentine said. Guidry said the state will ask the School Board to also ban the tree-cutters from using any of the School Board’s 16th Section properties.
“I’m just glad I didn’t cut those trees down,” Israel said. “If I had, I’d be looking for a place to hide.”
“There is a lot of pressure on them, to be sure,” Volentine added.
“Just as we trust the Spring Bayou Restoration Team and the public to support us in our efforts to bring these people to justice, we are asking you to trust us to use all means available to us to do that,” Anderson said. “Be assured that we are tackling it.”
