Oh yea they certainly do. Im sure there's some reading this thread trying to figure out who these people are to pay them a visit.

Ill just have to take my chances though if that situation ever presents itself. If doing it lands me in the hands of a dickhead green jeans who wants to run in a guy who's never had a parking ticket for finishing off a crippled deer with a gun, well frick it.

Rule #1, NEVER, under any circumstance should you talk to law enforcement (including but certainly not limited to green jeans) .

Rule #2, Make a judgment call and put the animal down as humanely as possible.

Rule #3, If anything you may or may not have done by following Rule #2 comes into question, immediately proceed directly back to Rule #1.

Had a friend growing up that was carrying a .22 revolver and climbing out of the stand and was holstering it or something and shot and killed himself on accident. Just be extra safe. I think its mostly for snakes in warmer weather.

Keep the damn thing holstered until you have to use it.

Climbing out of the stand with it in your hand???

If you don’t want to stab it you could always carry a crossbow with you. It’s quiet and wouldn’t draw any attention at least

I wasn't there. Another guy was hunting with him and carried him out and hauled arse to the hospital. I don't think he was climbing with it, but at some point he must have unholstered it and started tinkering with it. It was such a sad time that I never really asked for more specifics we were all like 14-16. It was a major local tragedy. Good guy, just a terrible mistake.

Well shooting it with a gun ‘ruins’ a bullet

Bullet $1 +/-

Arrow & Broadhead $30 +/-

I have on many occasions put additional arrows in an animal, usually big pigs that are laid up in brush, but could still charge. But a spine shot animal isn't gonna charge u, he can't fukn move. Geez.

He is in my contact list, but I would not waste either of our time by calling him with such foolishness
