They should be starting to move back out. Probably can still catch them shallow but last year in May we were catching them on points with Swim Baits and C-rig. Did catch numbers up shallow on Spinnerbaits next to bushes. Not sure where the water level will be this year.

I'd recommend at least packing a bag of Yamamoto's Senko Worms just in case--especially if it is early May.

Senko's , rattle traps (crawfish, silver/blue), top waters early.
Is possible black texas rigged worms at night around lighted docks (this is my favorite).

Fished it a ton.
That time of year like someone said will have them off the edges some, but don't discount grassy/lillypad shallows early with topwater.
We fished quite a bit near the dam, many coves in that end with good flats dropping to deeper water, using crankers and C-rigs. Dale Creek area used to be a awesome spot with much timber to pitch around. Caney Creek and Mustang area also very good.
check this site pretty good info for launching: LINK
We used to go out of the Minnow Bucket but there are several public launches that won't charge. Mustang Creek has a private launch that will put you on that side of the lake without having to run a ton.
asian luck.

I'll be making a trip in early Feb. for a couple of days with the guys. Any advice on what to throw and where to focus on around that time of year? This will be all of our first times on the lake.

Deep bite should be on! cranks and carolina rigs on humps should be the deal. Don't rule out a frog bite in the grass where you can find it though. Most of my experience on Fork has been in March but I've talked to guides that say May-August is the best time for numbers in the deep water.
