Last summer produced bigger fish than a lot of people have seen in the last few years

I didn't fish much but I tried fishing early in 2010 and the winds were terrible for months...then the oil spill happened which kept the pressure of the fish. I think we will see bigger fish because of that.

Does your dad post on dularge.com by any chance?

And yes I fish dularge 60+ times a year. I have a 22ft black jack with a 225 etec on it. Called "the game"

IDK?

You have a camp? I am going to have to see if he knows your boat. I hardly fished at all the last 3-4 years during the summer.

No I don't have a camp. I'm just very familiar with the area. I live in Houma and grew up fishing dularge. Literally know just about every acre of it.

Yeh I have been fishing it for 30 years and know it very well. I would like to learn more west and south of Lost lake. I can remember 10-15 years ago when there wasn't nearly as much fishing pressure in Decade, Mechant, Coon pt. Seems like everyone from the east comes west now.

Late 90s and early 00s i use to fish the area south of lost lake. We called it new route. Theres a lake down there call blue hammock. Use to be great but the atchafalaya got really high in 2001-2002 and we had a west wind for a few months. Killed the redfish fishing for a while. It's starting to come back strong now.

Give me your email I can send you some areials of good areas. I haven't been in a year or two, but I can at least give you some starting points, and no one fishes it so I'm not worried about it getting over fished.

Hell I'll create a new email if you send me photos of spots!

We used to go a good bit during the summer to lost lake and decade but all the people and small trout really discouraged us from going anymore.

Been fishing Mechant/Decade area for maybe 3 years the 10 or so times a year I get out to go fishing. Dularge is just always my destination and it becomes a matter of putting in at Falgoust or Jugs. 2 hour drive for me and the fish has yet to disappoint.

I haven't really ventured many other places other than the ponds on the southwest of Mechant and some of the canals off of Bayou Dularge. We always talk about hitting up lost lake but for some reason decide against it. I never stop for specs, we're always hunting wakes. I think if we tear up the specs it'll be a game of catch and release. Dularge rocks

Hey guys I am late on the conversation. I just bought a black over white Blue Wave pure bay this summer. I have made about 5 trips to the Decade/Dularge area in atttempts to learn the area for a winter time spot.

I have access to a family camp on.Grand Isle but I usually only go there in the summer.

My dad and I tried this a week or so ago. Was told that right at the entrance to Lost Lake from Bayou Dularge where it gets really deep holds some fish. Anyone know if that's true? We just were scoping it out, didn't wet a line right there. Also, where is the channel in Lost Lake? Once we got in, I started heading to my right and it got shallow QUICK. From 8+ feet to 1.5 and dropping 50+ feet from the shore/grass. That's another place we need to figure out lol.

That is correct. But you mean coming from bayou decade right?

It is very shallow to the right side. If you make a wide berth around the point there is a canal on that north end. Form point to canal it is loaded with grass and reds. I have really only caught trout at the mouth and towards the south bank where there is another canal. Both places are very close to the entrance of the lake......maybe 500 yards or so and trolling may be your best bet.

Oh face I think I saw your home on my run Saturday. Saw a house with a boat that looked like yours. Didn't get the name.

Off course I'm off tomorrow and all my fishing buddies are working

Oh Face: I have a camp down Oak Bayou and have a long run to Decade and Merchant. You got any reports around Sister Lake, Four Dome Bayou, etc? I've got the summer and fall pattern almost down, but I am trying to learn the winter pattern. thinking about going this weekend.

I'd surely appreciate those arial shots if you want to send. Thanks!
