You should do well if the weather cooperates. That area is on fire right now.

Chartreuse or puple/charteuse under a popping cork.

What about cast and retrieve? I HATE fishing with a cork.

I feel ya man. But the cork is what pulled a 4 man limit for us last week. I tried a straight tail off the bottom but it was not as productive.

That's not to say they won't change their minds.

You been lately? Cuz every report I am getting is that they are tearing them up and I busted them up in the cold a week ago.

I always found that mornings that start out in the 30s resulted in a popping cork kinda day. (which i hate) You can try on the bottom. The fish will tell you what they want. It hasnt gotten cold enough to knock em off yet

Eta: specifically talking ab decade here.

Buy these (H&H Usual Suspects 4" swagger tail shad):

And dip the tails in chartreuse dye.

Bite seems to be coming on later in the day...probably due to the cold. We caught the most around 11am-130pm when we went last weekend.

yeah if i get to go out it will probably not be at first light due to the cold. I may wait till 8am or so. Still not sure if i am going to launch at Falgout or at Cannan's and run miners canal to the lake.

I fished it everyday last week and caught maybe 5 on retrieve. IMO you will just be wasting your time without a cork. Last wednesday it was slick and when we had 10 away from our limit I tried topwater with no results either.

Lake decade is so shallow that even with a cork you are damn near fishing mid water column

Truth!

We caught 90% of our fish last week in the middle of the lake.

Even there it's only around 5-6ft deep. I've fallen off of my jet ski in the middle of Decade and been able to stand on the bottom Deepest part is probably the trenches they dug from dredging along the border of the lake.

Especially for me...Decade is a 10 minute boat ride from our camp. It's pretty awesome that 20 minutes is the farthest I have to go to limit out on specks and reds... Dularge.

Is Cannon's open? I passed by about 3 weeks ago and the water control gate was closed. I had read in the paper that it was going to be closed until we get some rain. I know they close it alot when it gets like this to prevent saltwater from getting into the parish water intakes.
