Headed to camp at Chicot this weekend with the parents and little engr. Bringing the kayaks for me and the boy to fish. Any reports other than fish shallow because they are about to spawn?

Some places in the general area are producing the white perch. I'd bring shiners, shinners or black with chartreuse tail jigs.

Bring your slicker suit in boat if you plan on fishing Saturday.

Bring polarized sunglasses. The water is very clear, so you can see the bass sitting a few feet down.
Throw weightless lizards near cypress trees, and you should pick up a few.

There's a BCKFC tournament there on Saturday, so they'll likely be several yaks on the water. There was a few reports from this past weekend posted on the BCKFC site but nothing too promising. Those guys were all targetting bass though, no word on sacacrappie.

I trust the weather man about as far as I can throw him. Will fish if it is light rain, won't bother if it is a frog drowner.

I was out there in my yak this past weekend and didn't have much luck at all with the bass.

Switched to crickets and caught a dinners worth of perch

If you turn left out of the park and drive 4 miles there is a store with live bait and other essentials on the left...

Hope that helps

So the bream are biting huh? I was thinking of making a trip out there next week if the water in Henderson is high and nasty. If no bass bite I'm gonna break out the ultralight rod.

Don't eat crawfish at places around there, they put the seasoning on the top...

Yeah I've been watching that. I know some places that the water stays cleaner even if most of the basin is chocolate milk. But the way it's rising with all the rain and snow melt coming from up north, I doubt even my secret spots will be any good.

So I got to the bottom of this thread before I realized there is a Lake Chicot in Louisiana as well as Arkansas. Was about to give a report on the Arkansas lake.....

I learned not too long ago that there were 2 Lake Martin's in Louisiana. I've only ever known of one.
