Fishing Lafitte this weekend (need to be close to Nola).

Will this just be a redfish event or are the trout starting to move in any?

Just curious. I don't have much experience fishing the area.

Thanks!

I will also be fishing there this weekend. Probably running to GI and fish surf side for specks if weather allows us

Haven't fished there in a while, but if you run a bit you should be able to find a few specs.

Is this still a thing in mid Sept?

I was thinking that the surf finished up about the first of August.

I would love to be able to fish the GI surf when the weather wasn't so miserable hot. Do tell...

I would think there'd be some Trout in upper bar status Bay and maybe even in Little Lake.

I'll be there this weekend at my camp. As of Labor Day weekend, a few guides I'm friends with said the trout have not moved north at all yet. Redfish have been everywhere. This has been one of our best summers.

Thought about making a teal hunt but will just fish.

FYI. The town bought a speed camera that shoots both ways at once. Usually park it at Rosethorne or the high school.

Heard very few shots in Lafitte this morning. I would say less than 100 shots total in two hours of fishing the marsh.

Hung around the wall at Bayou Rigolletes (sp) during the early bite. Pretty slow. Put 4 redfish in the boat by 8 am.

Ran out into the bays looking for trout. Plenty of birds working. Put 25 keeper trout in the boat by 9:30. Probably threw back about the same number. Back at the marina by 10:00 am. Had the fish cleaned and sitting in Des Familles having our fish cooked and drinking beer at 11:00 am. Solid, fun morning!

Hit up a local restaurant called Voleo's while you're there.

The can't miss dishes are the Flounder Lafitte and their seafood pizza. It is a hole in the wall that is unreal.

The flounder Lafitte is a dish consisting of 2 flounder fillets covering crawfish tails and crabmeat, deep fried and covered with a roux. Saying this dish is unreal doesn't do it justice.

Here is the seafood pizza:

It is andouille, shrimp, crabmeat, peppers, cheese sauce, etc of divine morsels.

Voleo will also cook the fish you catch if you stray from the menu items.

Do you mind me asking where?

I heard they've been killing the reds at the wall for the last two months

The water was moving OK at daylight and we picked up four. Then it died and we didn't catch a fish for an hour. So we moved on to the trout. Glad to hear things picked back up later on.

There were 15-20 boats along the wall. Then another 10 or so just SW (?) of there where a couple of bayous came together. But we were the only boat we saw out in the bay chasing the birds. Water was pretty. Plenty of birds working and decent sized trout.

Make sure you have toilet paper on the boat if you eat this the night before going out.

Glad to hear it. The group ill be with was hunting right where you were fishing at the little lake club. They all got thier limits of teal this morning but only a few members were down there, hence why you probably didnt hear alot of shooting. Excited to get down there tonight
