Looks like this weekend will be some decent weather. Any of yall gonna do some fishing?

I plan on going Saturday afternoon, which I've planned on doing the last two Saturdays and haven't been able to

Unless I somehow get out of work, it’ll be another no fish weekend for me.

My engine is down no fun for me. Time to borrow another thousand for repair and service.

I'll probably be out there with rods in the box after not getting a shot...

Saturday I decided to make one last fishing trip for the year. And it was a good way to end 2017. Went over to Lake Martin in the afternoon and fished for a few hours. Got out ahead of the cold front thank God.

Lake Martin has always been my go-to spot in the winter. The grass dies back a good bit and it’s more fishable. With the water temp being pretty low the fish tend to hang pretty tight to the grass and trees. Most effective lures are typically a white spinnerbait, jig, or a big worm/senko. I threw spinnerbait, a Zoom Ol’ Monster, and my usual Yum Dinger. I started off with junebug because the water was a little cloudy and it was overcast. But surprisingly watermelon got more bites. This is a good chance to catch some quality fish (if the freezing temps don’t hurt the lake). So I’d recommend getting out there before the grass starts blowing up again. There are some hogs in there. You may not catch a lot, but your chances of catching bigger fish are there. Once this cold weather is out the way I want to make a few more trips when I can.

Damnit, I knew I shouldn't have played golf. Greta catch.
Any problems getting in and out?

No problems at all. The water out of the launch is pretty shallow, but there was no trouble in my boat. Just stick toward the middle of the lake as far as fishing goes. I fished all of the trees more toward the center of the lake. Water was deeper. You start going toward the bank and it gets shallow pretty quick.

Just found out my GF's father has a membership to Shepherd's Fish Hatchery through his company. Going to find out info about guests and whether or not he has to be there when we go, etc. Anyone have experience fishing there?

It looks like a bunch of stocked ponds. I bet it'd be some fun fishing.

I’d have to have no other means to go fishing before I paid that.
