We fished Lake Martin pretty hard yesterday from about 5:30pm until dark. i had one nice bass hit a top water frog, but it missed it. that was the only bite of the day, and we tried everything. Well that isnt completely true. that was the only fish bites we had. We hooked three gators the biggest was probably 4ft. At one point we were all (three of us in the boat) throwing different frogs, and those gators were hungry, baw. Also had to help two dumbass highschool maybe early college aged guys who flipped the little 8ft canoe they were in. talk about some stupid people on the earth, bruh.

ETA: however it sure is beautiful out there around sunset. i snapped a couple nice pics. if i knew how, id post em, but after about 8yrs on this site, i still dont know how

ETA 2: The grass: i always hear the people complain about the grass. i had no problem with it. now the two guys taking turns working the trolling motor seemed to be having a little trouble though

ETA 3: talked to a couple different guys in kayaks out there who said they both go pretty regularly. we asked em for a little advice. both said they dont really catch much bass when they go, but every once in a while they will catch a few. the second guy we talked to said he basically only fishes out there bc it close to where he lives and he can go after work and bc its really nice out there. the other guy said to just keep chunking at the trees and every once in a while youll get lucky.

That's pretty much all you can do over there.

ETA:

Hard to beat a Lake Martin sunset

Not today. Thursday was the last trip I made. We went back that evening and found a few more fish. Actually, I was in the boat when I talked to you. Found a hole and caught about another half dozen real quick.

I don't think so. Homey would have said hello. He knew what my boat looked like.

Some people on the reports page got outed for lying to people. They were catching crap loads way up in fordoche and the canal that leads to it, but we're posting bullshite locations sending people on wild goose chases. That's fine if you don't wanna tell people exact spots, but don't lie to people. I even told my podnah Thursday morning that I suspected they were catching up in fordoche and were lying about it. Suspicion confirmed.

If you look at the map, you can see some canals that go north of Bigeaux. They lead to a larger open area call Fordoche.

That's Fordoche. Apparently they're catching there and in all of the canals leading to it. When the water is high those fish can sometimes migrate in from the river and stack up in there. I almost thought about going there, but it's a long twisting turning boat ride that may or may not be worth it.

Gotcha. We started on the north flats up here fishing willows. I saw quite a few boats heading in that direction.

We launched under the interstate and ran to the extreme north flats and started flipping willow islands. The fricking flats had 8 ft. of water on them. About 15 minutes into our trip my bilge starts pumping water. I open up the back and the hose that connects to the aerator pump snapped so I have water pouring into the boat. We haul arse back to the launch and plug it up with a cork and run back to the flats. Then from there we fished some drains on the north end, then to dogleg, then to bar pits (caught two), then a shell pad by the launch and that was it.
