i've never hunted with one, but i do hear and have seen them in action and they do make some good duck dogs just like any lab

doodles act dumb to train and condition you to do things for them. It is a trick, don't fall for it.

I guess I am the gayest of the bunch. My wife shows standards and we have 7 right now. Been having some for nearly 6 years. She will be showing her younger ones from a stud dog from the UK this coming year. They look extremely nice

You know where I am. I will let you know when we have another litter. So far these poodles are head and shoulders better than any lab we had.

They like to hunt? They enjoy the water and like to swim no problem? They enjoy/ can endure hunting in sub freezing conditions?

Not being sarcastic just curious, because this about a given with any lab.

If you’re gonna use the dog for more than duck hunting, then I’m sure some breeds will be the choice. However, if you’re only gonna duck hunt then the answer is a Lab. Every other breed brings serious question marks with some phase of the hunt.

Our foundation bitch has tremendous prey drive and is a good retriever and the offspring we have kept are very good retrievers. My original comment was to the fact that doodles make good retrievers because of the golden or lab part of there pedigree. You can grow poodle hair to whatever length you so I guess in theory the or more adaptable to the cold than labs. Yes most poodles love the water. They are better in the house because of no shedding. There is no guarantee any pup will turn in to an acceptable retriever but I would go with a purebred whatever breed that has proven retrieving in there background than a doodle that is bred as a designer breed.

This is such a big deal. My lab sheds like crazy, gimme my dog’s ability with no shedding and I’ll spend a pretty penny to get a pup. I’ve just never seen a doodle work...
