I buy locally on account of the issue of service.
This. And they have dropped the ball on service. It sucks, but it is what it is. Too many other options for the consumer. You have to break your neck to make the customer think you're important to them and then do an adequate job.

This is exactly why I make it a point to go buy my archery stuff from the shop (Chags).
I don't mind paying a little more because I know when I need something done, it will be done right. And I know that if I have a last minute thing that is needed, they will make it happen.
SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHOP
Ray and Sam are good dudes

Maybe if the local guy wasn't such a jerk every time you go in the store the locals may buy from them. I quit going in there last year after I was bothering them with my business during hunting season. I hate it for them but this is a common theme around town concerning these guys.
This can be the case for many. That is why I only go to Bowies anymore.

quote:$100 is different than the $3 more on a pack of broadheads I'm referring to
I try to stay loyal to the local guy, but when I can order a gun from buds or sportsman's guide and have it shipped to him, pay him a $20 transfer fee, and still come out $100 cheaper, $100 is $100.

Sad. Where's your closest Mathews dealer going to be? Maybe you can talk Andrew into getting the line?
My closest authorized Mathews dealer is in a garage in Petaluma, about 45 minute drive from me. He tried to light me up for $1500 for a new rigged out bow a few months ago. At least i can drop by the Lagunitas Brewpub on the way back for some cold beer.

Man cave archery has taken a lot of their business.

Man cave is carrying Mathews

I bought a bow press and do my own work now. Got some crappy work at Bowie done on my Matthews a few years ago. I work too hard for my money. I will buy online and save some serious change and tune the bow myself.

Yep. Man Cave has taken a lot of their business. Go see Spanky, the best bow guy around here or maybe the state

No doubt Amazon is kicking butt and also the larger sporting goods stores online are too. You are going to have to provide a good service to stay in business now. Sad to see La. Archery go. Bought a couple of guns there and I use them to put new strings and cables on my crossbow. I am sure internet has put a hurting on Security Sporting Goods too.

Damn hate to hear that. That was the only place I sent my bow when i needed something done.
Security on the other hand, overpriced. They should have closed instead

The CENLA ballers must be keeping them in business because their prices are laughable.

I am just starting to try and get into bow hunting so we were a little off on price
I made a trip back over there after work today. I ended up getting a PSE Stinger fully rigged and set up, 7 arrows, three broad heads, four field tips, and a release for $441. I have been shooting it since 6:00

Are prices already reduced?
Posted on 11/2/17 at 10:54 pm to AlxTgr
They were willing to work with me on everything I bought. I don't think the entire store is marked down "X" amount but if you have an idea of what you want and a set amount you want to spend I would be willing to bet they would make you a deal.

quote:I dont find Seecurity that high on anything except clothing. The problem with them is the same that La Archery had IMO and that was trying to have a little bit of everything. You never know what they will have in stock or what brands you will find. You can find gym shorts from 1986 and plastic worms you buy by the each,

Toledo Tackle late 80s style
For instance, if you want a nice duck call, you cant buy one in Alexandria (that I know of), but you can find walls of Haydels and Primos everywhere from WalMart to Academy to Security.
