Squamous cell just refers to the cell type the cancer is. He has oral cancer which is most commonly the tongue and the tongue is made of para keratinized stratified squamous epithelium which is just a fancy way of saying dead cells on too of layers of live cells.
His is not as serious the skin cancer version. It was caught very early and is contained locally with no spread.

Radiation is hell on your salivary glands, make someone get you some biotene or something similar if they dont give you some form of sialogogue . Also use non alcoholic mouthwash regularly. Don't want your teeth going south on you, hoss.
