John Deere Z225 Starting Problem.

The last time I cut my grass, mower was running perfect. About 5 days later I try to start and all I get is the starter solenoid clicking. I have changed the following:
Starting solenoid
Battery
Relay
Brake switch
Starter
PTO switch
ETA: Seat switch changed too.
All the wiring looks good, but it is not getting power to the starter. Still making the same noise when I turn the ignition. Any ideas before I have to take it to the shop?

Have you checked the switch that is engaged when you are sit on the seat?
I would think its ok since the solenoid clicks though

Have you checked the power at the key switch?

I would check here and also.
Probably should check the deadman seat switch. Some models allow the motor to turn over but won't start if the deadman switch is out.

Forgot to list that one, but I have changed it as well.

I will check when I get home tonight.

Take the spark plug(s) out and then try to crank it over. The carb needle and seat can leak fuel into the engine causing it to hydro(gas) lock.
You could also pull the oil dip stick and see if the oil smells like gas but not as reliable as removing the spark plugs.

Can you get the starter to spin if you turn the key on and just bypass the solenoid with jumper cables?

Have you tested anything with a multimeter?

Someone has to ask...
Do you have gas in there?
Pull the spark plug and turn the engine over. If you see a spark, you have a fuel problem.
If no spark... you are doing just about everything you can do.

Fuse or safety switch bad maybe. Let us know what you find.

i would test every connection with a multimeter to make sure you are getting good power at every interval. hell, maybe a broke wire somewhere along the way.

Full tank, the starter isn't getting power.

Yes.

Not yet. I was hoping it was a simple switch gone bad type deal.

I know you said you have replaced the battery, but I would put a load test on the new one, as I have had brand new batteries go bad before and your problem sounds like a bad battery to me.

Instead of swapping so many parts, you should've picked up a decent multimeter and checked stuff out. Hindsight

Have you taken the spark plug out and tried too see if the engine will turn over?

Since the starter will spin if you bypass the solenoid, The problem has to be between the solenoid and the battery I'd think. Are you sure the battery has a full charge? I know its new but sometimes they don't always come charged 100%.
Check all the connections and make sure they are tight and corrosion free.
Also, could be possible you just got a defective new solenoid.

Problem fixed. I had the new battery tested and it was bad. The hardware store swapped it out for me and I put in the battery, but I had the same issue except I was finally getting power to the starter.
I rechecked all my wiring and it ended up being a ground underneath the motor that appeared to be bolted down, but when I tugged the crap out of it loosened up. Tightened the ground and it fired right up.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
