I have a 98 tj with 15” factory alloy wheels. I’m wanting to put some black steel wheels “jeep wheels” is what I call them. My buddy told me not to put steel wheels on because I’ll sacrifice ride and power/mpg.
Is it really that much of a noticeable difference? I just love the way the black steel wheels look.

It’s a jeep. It rides like crap and drinks gas. Wheels and tires won’t make a difference. - ole school jeep baw.

I didn't notice any change when I went from alloy to steel on my TJ.

the larger tires will do that. not the wheels.

Beware of steel wheels. It is not real easy to get 4 (5) that are well balanced. If you're ordering them online, you might be buying trouble. One that isn't exactly round is going to get worse over time. Since you drive a jeep, you know what that typically leads to.

As finch said that's from increased tire size not wheel material

I upsized from 29" tires and stock wheels to 33/12.5/15 and steel wheels and had to re learn the gears

White ‘06 TJ, bought new in ‘06,
Painted the grey factory wheels black with rattle can soon after I bought it. If it’s needed I repaint them when I rotate the tires.

Pity you arent 6x5.5.

I have a set of 35x12.5r15 KO2s on black cragars.

Two tires look new. Two tires worn crooked as hell.

Didn't realize my frame was bent
