Louisiana dove hunt
Ventress, LA
Harvested soybean field
75 degrees, partly cloudy with 2mph NE wind
Remington 1100LT20, modified choke with #8 lead
Waiting on 6:14am to load shells and begin blasting. I gotta shoot what I can by 9 because I’ve been drafted to cook lunch under the pecan trees. Rabbit and chicken dirty spaghetti (my first rodeo on this meal), wish me luck. Good luck to all chasing the birds today!

Union county Kentucky
75° calm, clear and humid
Mathews Vertix with Muzzy Trocar
Sitting on the edge of a bean field on doe patrol. Bucks have gone silent the past few weeks. It’s hot as the devils arse crack with temps at 100° the past week. My brother is a couple hundred yards off.

From 6:25 to 6:50 was nice, sky has gotten stale now. We’ll see.

Killed a doe yesterday morning with the weapon of choice, F150. The winch bumper/cattle guard did it's job

How’s the recoil on that bad boy?

I managed to get 9 birds and don’t want to talk about how many shells that took. Mike C. Is going to get the MVP trophy today, he limited out at 7:20 using a beat up full choked 12 gauge Ithaca 37 with less than a box of high brass 6’s. I’m about to dirty a big cast iron pot with cut up rabbits and chicken thighs while a handful of diehards are still in the field looking for 15. Good times are being had!

Do morning bowhunts in September produce much?

Ended up with 8, my shooting sucked this morning. I think I missed my first 10 shots. Several guys limited out. Not a bad opener overall.

Dirty spaghetti turned out great and we killed 98 mourning doves, 3 white wings, 1 collared and 1 pigeon total. Now we’re killing white cans and most of us will be looking for a big television with a football game playing on it. Good times indeed!

Not really for bucks. Does are pretty patterned over corn right now. We have been seeing a few over the past week in and out of these spots and not many bucks. So we went to scratch an itch on opening morning. Still waiting to scratch that itch.
Back in a different stand. First spot I got up in ladder stand and it was already occupied with wasp. Amazing how fast they can move in.
