A balmy 77 degrees, wind howling. Pretty good rain overnight (soupy roads), but none right now.
Hunting a stand that overlooks our main road with a lot of cross trails. We should at least be seeing pre-rut behavior, but the couple of nice backs I had on my cameras I checked yesterday are having middle of the night corn snacks and showing zero interest in the does around them.
Trying the 10-2 shift today. Couldn’t see any fewer than yesterday and the gf cranked out an awesome breakfast as her thanks for me not waking her up at 4:30 getting ready. Weather has me lackadaisical, saving the big push for Sunday-Tuesday. Cold weather lining up with what should be the peak of our rut. :fingerscrossed;

My 13 year old son made his first solo hunt today. Used his alarm to wake himself up, get dressed, and walk to his stand. Didn’t see anything.
Me, my dad, my daughters went fishing on the river. Caught a dozen bass and the girls jumped in the river. Dec 28th that’s a first

Midday hunt yielded same results. Bagel. Looking at our cameras, there has been minimal activity even at night since the heat wave started (unless you count turkeys by day and coons by night). Scrubbed my planned afternoon hunt due to severe weather threat right at prime time. One more brief sit in the AM, then it’s off until Sunday’s big chill.

Went for a run. Came home and in backyard for evening sit. Im in shorts and t shirt in a metal oven shed waiting for deer with sweat pouring
Got the tinks out again. Hopefully the are still backed up and lookin for a sweet lady
