Sitting at work.

Tomorrow is youth in area 6 so I'll be there with my 12 year old on doe patrol. Maybe a hog too.

Moving today. Saw 5 on the walk in, saw 7 does/fawns from my tree all out of bow range. Decided to relocate to another tree closer to thickets that the does were skirting. Walked next to a thicket looking for a straight tree then decided on one ~30 yds south. Setup as quiet as I can, get situated, nock an arrow, eat half of a clif bar, then watch helplessly as an 8 and a 4 pt jump up from the thicket north of me and haul arse. I was within 10 yds of them and they never moved before I set up. Wind was always in my favor so I guess that’s why they didn’t bust out earlier.

Hang out here for a while then make my way for an evening setup a little closer to the truck.

Update: ole 7pt hangin by his feet. Got to be the first time the kids got to blood trail one. Just a basket rack buck, but it’s fun as hell to shoot them with a bow 20yds from your driveway. One less for the orange army to get after next weekend at gun opener. Y’all boys have a good night, Ive got bourbon to drink and a deer to skin!
