You tree climbers are definitely more manly than me, and I have no problem saying so. Give me my box and Mr. Buddy on days like today.

You must be retired WBY. I'm jealous you get to hunt that much, but I think even I'd be burned out by now.

Back at work today and deer season's over for me. Will do a little squirrel dog chasing and start organizing the bass boat if this arctic blast ever leaves.

Good luck fellas!

Everyone likes to rip on high dollar clothes but that is where they shine. Being able to hunt where I want without a buddy heater comfortable without bulk is well worth the cost of premium hunting clothing.

This is 100% true. I bought my first set of First Lite merino wool. That shite is so damn warm. I walk in with hardly any clothes and just throw on my really warm outers right before I climb or after I'm up.

Yes, I’m retired. Can’t get burned out now. The hunting is just getting good. I think it was easier to get burned out when I worked because everything was a time crunch.

Not exactly high dollar, but I invested in the Minus 33 merino wool shirt, bottom, and gloves, as well as Darn Tough merino wool socks for this season. The warmth-to-bulk ratio was well worth the cost.

Similar for me but no high dollar...I walk out with 1 or 2 thin layers on, only 2 if it's below 30. Then after I climb, if it's really cold I'll put on this old Wall's Outdoors camo full jump suit my dad got me in the 90s, it's my full body jacket. If it's not windy or just in the 40s or warmer I might throw on just a fleece or sweatshirt after getting up. If it's really windy, I have a camo/orange blocker jacket that I never wear but I'll position it to block wind and kind of hide me a bit better up there. Summit viper, I know that wouldn't work in a saddle.

To be fair, Brown, you said you wouldn’t hunt in hot weather. So you have to be hunting today.
I’m expecting to see a lot of deer this evening. They were feeding heavy this morning and should be the same now.

On stand, as usual.

Good luck. No hunting for me today, but I’ve already seen a couple target bucks on camera in the day, so it should be a good one for y’all that are out there.

The new Mathews

I really like the back wall on it. It seems to be a little more solid than my old Halon. Also, I finally went back to a 33 after years of shooting a 29. The draw is smooth and of course they seem to keep making these things lighter and faster each year.

You’re right, but today was a little crazy. I’d been sitting down for about 45 minutes when the first deer appeared. I eased up, folded up the seat and backed up against it.

When I went to sit back down a few minutes later, I was stuck to the stand seat. Literally frozen to it.

It’s time to get back to the Tensas. LOL
