The usual morning box. Already gave in to Mr. Buddy. Drinking coffee and reading The OT.

The directive is to only shoot a strange buck slipping through or a predator or hog.

I guess I’m really just soaking up the last bits of deer season. Owls and other “spring” sounds are getting my juices going for Turkey Season.

Last hunt of the year. If anymore meat goes in the freezer, it’s gotta happen in the next two hours.

Same saddle setup as yesterday evening. Yesterday was uneventful. Bumped about 6-7 deer on the walk in this morning so I’m guessing they’re feeding all night. Maybe one will walk by on its way back to bed.

Bear LS-4, Lone Wolf climber… except I’m sitting on the base of it at the base of my tree for three reasons: I gotta drop deuce; it’s starting to rain; I’ve missed two deer off the ground this year and it’s a goal to arrow one from ground level.

It’s just enough rain to level the playing field. Happy hunting baws… this is probably my 70th hunt this year.

Theme of the day: on the ground, if it’s brown it’s down.

Looking for any duck to shoot. Could be last hunt due to storms tomorrow morning. Pup has a cut on his paw and is done for the year. He wanted to kill me since he can’t hunt. Good luck baws

Thin strip of oaks between a 3 year old 250 acre cutover and pine/gum thicket bordering a food plot. Bucks are on their feet. Have seen 2 with noses to the ground and on the move.
Lots of shooting early.

Looking to thin some does and have seen 3 bucks. Guess I’ll have to set up on a food plot this afternoon

Shocked by the amount of movement this morning. Wondering if we’ve got a secondary rut going on. Nine came out this morning, 8 kept going. One was not so lucky.

Older deer, not much on tine length (7 point), normal for here. 255 yard head shot (all that presented) so pretty happy with my shooting-totally stoned him.

My son is going to a stand behind the house along the creek. Looking to finish the season off with a big doe or shooter buck.

Last evening hunt of the season. Where did the time go? Spent more time in the woods this year, but still not enough. Can’t wait to give the turkeys hell in March.

Happy to have my big 7 point from last week. For next season, I’m gonna focus on getting back into bow shape.

Currently in an open box over a massive green field. It’s windy as hell. Drinking a cold Heineken in memory of my Pappy. His last hunt was 7 years ago this weekend.

Nice woody shoot this morning in Madison parish. Sitting deep in the woods in Tensas with a 35 Whelan right now. Enjoying my (most likely) last sit of the season.
