My brothers and I manage this place well. We kill big deer. I’ve probably have been too selective this season.

What I’d love for my family to do but there are “Too many Cooks in the kitchen” to make a decision.

Bears aren't in this area yet. I'm sure they'll eventually mosey over. They are thick across the Bayou Macon.

Nine years next month. We also did a deal with a group called “Greentree” I believe. They planted cottonwoods between the CRP rows. Basically, instant forest.

I think we’re going to do a little CRP starting next year on the edge of one of the bean fields.

The farmer across the road from us who leases a couple of our fields to grow beans on let’s us hunt his place as much as we want because he stopped hunting. His CRP is almost 13 years old and dropped some acorns this year. I was talking to a wildlife biologists last week that’s heavily involved with CRP and he stated if you’re near the MS river or big rivers or if your land is in a very fertile area your trees will start producing at 13-18 years old. If the area you’re in isn’t like what was mentioned above it could take up to 25 years before they drop good.

You’re just north of me in a pretty good area so I’d imagine you’ll see some in the next few years. Are y’all fairly close to the river?

On Tensas River. I hope we get some at year 13. Acorns would really help.

Those are the carbon credit guys?

Where abouts on the Tensas River? Seems I recall you're in Madison Ph?

We've got some CRP in the area that was planted 2003 - found a few water oaks making nuts this yr.

That’s right in that 13-18 year range.

I think y’all will have some start dropping in the next 3 or 4 years

Yes. Cottonwoods for carbon credits. They pay like CRP does, just not as much.
