Both look eerily similar to the Excel hull for duck boats. Didn't see any side or center consoles like Excel makes so Havoc and Edge definitely aren't the gold standard for

Yes Havoc makes a 20ft. CC or dual console. Your choice. Way better craftsman ship than 99% the aluminum boats on the market today. Excel should look like Havoc. The same guy designed both

if you like welds breaking, yes.

I think it is an ok boat.
Friends that have them like them.
When I bought an aluminum boat I went with Duracraft (similar to war eagle) with 90 hp Mariner(Mercury same engine). Some people said it would crack at the keel. 22 yrs and it still works fine.
Now the custom boats are nicer. When I looked around and bought mine for my father I looked at where I fish the most and cost versus quality.

Mine is a 2000 X70 with 150.......will run 63 on gps with me and a full tank of fuel.....
It's a little narrow compared to my fishing buds Comanche, and not nearly as "cushy", but it has served me from Four Bayou Pass to Caney Lake to Lake Fork.....
Replaced the carpet a few years ago with Rhino Liner. That stuff is rough on the knees, but durable.
I keep mine around as a beater boat, but we enjoy our pontoon boat more, nowadays.....

Gold Standard? No. The heavy duty aluminum boats and the glass boats are better, but they cost more.
Yep, I got a good deal on a 2 year old H20B and I am happy with it.

Only thing I regret about my RT188 with 115 is that I pulled the trigger before the RT198 with 150 came out. Paid off now so no worries.
Same here. Other than that Ranger Aluminum is GOAT

I have the Ranger RT188 and as far as build quality there's no way Xpress i on the same level. At least not present-day Xpress.
Agreed. I looked at both when I bought my Ranger and it was night and day in the quality of the details. My only regret is I bought a black one. My camp is 1/2 mile down a limestone road. I can clean it spotless and before I get to the launch its dirty again. Should have bought the gray one but I didn't want an aluminum boat that was painted to look like aluminum.

My old man has been talking about a ranger aluminum center console. I dont know a damn thing about them. Anybody here fished out of one?

I think the CC's are fairly new like the RT198. Look nice as shite on the Ranger website though. I don't know anyone that has one but I bet they will start popping up soon. In the fall of '15 when I took delivery on my RT, I hadn't seen any in person besides at Cabelas. 6-8 months later, they started popping up. Almost two years later and I see at least one every time I fish. If the craftsmanship, ride, and fishability is anything like the RT, it will be a very good rig.

Stick in the mud? Come on man. My boat is comfortable to fish 4 people. Takes on big waves easily and we fish BL often while its white capping. It's not dry in rough weather but you never feel unsafe either.

I love mine. H22B with 175 SHO. No it doesn't handle the rough stuff as well as a glass boat but it does what I need it to do. Fuel mileage is incredible with the Yamaha, average 5.5-6.5 each trip. Had it about a year and put 90hrs so far and no problems

I think that the comp has caught up. Lowe makes a bad arse boat that is ALL aluminum. I've got a 17.5 bass tracker with a 60 Merc and couldn't ask for better. I bass fish local lakes for th most so I really don't need anything bigger.

Check out an Alweld.
LINK
I've been told by folks in the know they're the best thing this side of a custom-made boat. We had some a WLF back in the day and they, and Duracraft, were indestructible.

Do they make a 20ft with a steering wheel? If not, apples and oranges.
