How does it not have a trolling motor?

Probably removed a tiller unit when he was redoing it and planned to install an Ipilot but decided to sell prior to doing so. I think that may be a trolling motor plug hanging on top of the deck?

The Yamaha 150 has many known issues including the harmonic balancer with plastic gears causing misaligned timing, vibration, or the belts slipping off. It’s a Yamaha, so exhaust corrosion is a big concern.

I would also be very concerned with the condition/ age of the fuel tank and how it’s installed. There’s no way to fully test, or check the tank as installed.

Unless you’re willing to re-power and potentially replace the fuel tank, I would pass on this boat if it were me.

It’s a 20 yr old motor and 2stroke, I have not heard of exhaust corrosion on 2s yams. 2S yams were/are solid performers.

Tank is under console and easy to inspect, poly tanks are good for eons. Mine is under deck, my glass guy has never seen a bad poly tank and he has been around the block a time or four.

Tell us how many boats you have owned again?

I'd buy that boat yesterday. The trailer alone is worth $5,000+. Kenner made a solid hull. As long as the motor has good compression I'd definitely buy it.

Figure on replacing the motor 18-24 months and see if it is a good deal.

Based on your response, it appears you don't have much experience with Yamaha motors or boats in general. It's well documented the corrosion issues of Yamaha engines. Poly fuel tanks have a lifespan of 20 years. Both Moeller and Tempo (the two largest manufacturers of poly tanks) recommend replacing between 10-15 years.

Insurance might be a problem on a 20 year old boat as well.

Geico, Progressive & Markel have no problem insuring 20 yr old boats.
Per my glass guy, he has ever seen a bad poly tank on a Kenner and he has seen more than you or I. I have never heard or seen a floor cut out on a Kenner to replace the fuel tank but this tank is under the console so it’s a moot point but you should know that.

You should have no problem selling that boat for full blue book value. Kenner was a really good sturdy boat and well built. Only issue is the motor the owner put on it and how he/she treated Those older Kenner boats are in demand with those who know.

I thought the F225-F250 were the ones with dry exhaust corrosion issues?
