Going hunting this week in TX. Have a chance at Axis or Fallow. I know Axis is really good meat, but what about Fallow?

Never had fallow but it’s gonna have to be great to be better than axis meat

I'm sure it tastes great. 99% of whether something is "good" to eat depends how you cook it.

If I had a choice, axis, but fallow is very good.

It’s ok but if you are only wanting meat (shooting a doe) then shoot the axis. Axis is on par with beef.

Having shot and eaten quite a few of both over the years, follow what others said and take the axis. Not only much better meat, they are larger, and if you are so inclined, their hides are awesome tanned. I have several pieces of furniture covered in axis hides. They don’t shed like whitetail and fallow.
