Will have to look at in person and see if this is finally the bow that makes me hang up my feathermax from about 1997...
Still love my feathermax

quote:Dude, you seriously need an upgrade. Looking back, my Mathews from that era was my least favorite. Not saying you need this exact bow, but Halon or newer would be huge.

Similar to the Ultramax that I have probably. It's almost painful to shoot. I feel like I need to tie it to my wrist to keep it from jumping out of my hand. One day I will upgrade.
But.... when I first bought it new I had the fastest bow in the land.

Looks awesome but man that's a rich man's bow for sure.
My 10 year old z7 still handing out dirt naps at 50 yards.
shite i popped a big ole nanny with my 20 year old Switchback XT this year.
Mathews makes a damn fine product. Hints my username.

Yeah it's pricy but there are a ton of not so rich dudes stomping the woods with $1500+ rifles and $2000 scopes

I had no idea just how miserable the experience was until I shot the first of the long riser/short limb bows. I would sell my LX, as there's nothing wrong with it, but almost no one shoots a 27" draw.

Plus a lot of them riding out in a $5k to $20k SxS or four-wheeler.
I'm shooting a 12 year old bow but I think I want to upgrade next year if I can get my whole vision thing right.

I shot one about 5 years ago and immediately put it down. It was so much nicer than any bow I'd shot I was scared if I held it any longer I'd buy it.

I shoot a Z7, buddy at the camp had his VX3 in my draw. I shot it three times and had to put it away. Anyone who says they can’t tell a difference with these new bows is just trying to save some money.

Here's a pretty cool Matt McPherson story.....
Back in the late 90's I was in a deer camp in Iowa with Matt and several outdoor writers. I'd never met him but certainly knew who he was. First night at dinner, one of the guides sits down next to Matt and across the table from me. For the next 45 minutes he talks about how nice it would be to have a new Mathews, but he can't afford to purchase one. Matt, would just simply smile and nod his head as he listened to the guy talk. Matt was a super nice guy.
Two days later the UPS man shows up at camp with a new bow for the guide. Over the course of the hunt I really enjoyed my time around him. He was down to earth, smart and loved to talk archery.
Fast forward many years later and my father is working for a country band called "The Band Perry". They had a tour stop that was close to home so I took the kids to see Pawpaw and the show. After the show, we were sitting on the bus when the door opened and in walks Matt. He had started making guitars and Kimberly Perry played one.
There were probably 6 or 7 of us on the bus and Matt went around introducing himself to everyone. When he got to me, he started laughing and called my name. I was blown away. I'd spent a total of 5 days around Matt and now here we were a decade later and he remembered me.
We were able to visit for a few minutes and then I stepped off the bus to allow he and his people to talk business with the band.
Just outside the bus there was a ping pong table setup and all three of my kids were playing, so when Matt came off the bus, he stopped and introduced himself to each of them. I wished him a good trip and told him I enjoyed getting to visit with him again.
About three weeks later the UPS man shows up at my house with 4 brand new bows. One for me and one for each of my children. When he was on the bus, he'd asked my father for my address and had them sent.
I will never shoot any bow other than a Mathews.

I got a 404 error from my iPhone. Might be something on my end for all I know.
